| | | | The Mill, 4/22/07 < on 4/23/2007 7:21 AM >
| | | Went back to the mill today with one of my "virgin" explorer friends. It was cool to go during the day, as I'd only been at night before. The inside was definitely a whole different experience. A curious incident did occur, though. About halfway through our time there, after we had been looking for an alternate exit, we started hearing noises inside with us somewhere. At first it sounded like it might have been a bird, very quiet and almost not noticable, but it slowly started to get louder. Eventually we could tell it was coming from below us, and it started sounding like someone moaning loudly or retching over and over, and it kept getting louder and more intense until it almost sounded like someone yelling. After a few minutes of listening it started freaking us both out, so we quickly got up to the roof and took some pictures, then made out way quickly back down to our exit. The sound was gone by the time we got down to where we could hear it before. Anyway, here are some pictures. I didn't get that many today as we went through the areas I hadn't explored before pretty quickly on account of our nerves.
(sorry for the melodrama, but I enjoyed it)
Then, after that, we went and saw some Ferraris, haha. I'll never own one, so don't ask me why I'm interested.
"See you guys, you never listen to me. I said there was gonna be trouble but you didn't listen to me. You guys are crazy. You know, you guys are self destructive. There's a funny farm and it has your names written all over it. But I'm gettin' out of here. I'm... I smell ice cream!" |

| | | How do you know that's my face? That picture isn't proof that the person whose face that is has ever done anything wrong. I could have Tom Cruise's face on there if I wanted to. Besides, I like my face.

I didn't, but it wasn't hard to guess. If you want to put your face out publicly, more power to you, but when ya out there and cops recognize the face, I speculate it gives them a reason to watch you like a hawk. I'm probably too paranoid by your standards though.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as "too paranoid." Maximum paranoia equals minimum consequences.

| | | Yeah, I guess that's true. I'm not really worried about it, but avoiding it would be better. I seriously doubt it will matter either way.

| | | Does anyone know if there is a flood pump or something in the basement of this place? We went down to the first floor to try to find an exit there, and failed, but we heard what sounded like a loud pumping noise or something like that, definitely coming from the basement. I almost went down and found out, but my friend insisted that he heard voices or a radio or something down there too, so we left and went back up. I don't think I heard it last time I was there. Any idea what this might've been? Also, thanks Nikkoli. I'm sure you'll get a chance to go soon, with summer coming up and everything.

That happens at the flour mill. It's pretty common that the sound of something there sounds like a voice.

| | | I didn't think the first noise sounded like voices at all, but I'm almost positive the second time, the one I described in the first post, was a person... it creeps me out the more I think about it.

| | | The basement used to be filled with water or at least semi filled. There is a pump that had been taking the water out. I do believe.... There's tons of noises at the flour mill....The boats, dropping of the containers near by, trains, etc...our minds can make it into things it isn't which freaks us out...

That's what it sounded like, and what I thought it must have been when we were there. I just didn't remember hearing it before, and thought it was weird.

| | | Went back there on tuesday, but we weren't able to get in... Maybe I'm just not up on these things, but I didn't know stuff went on there on weekdays. When we got there, trucks were driving in and out pretty frequently, some stopping under the overhead area between the trains, and there was a backhoe moving a pile of dirt around. Also, the whole (EDIT: not south) north side of the building was hinged open, you can see it in this picture:
We still went into the middle to see what we could, but decided not to go in in the end. I kind of wish I would've to see what they were doing. Anyone know what's up with all this stuff going on? I just realized that day that the warehouses behind it are active and occupied by some other grain company, I forgot what it was called. I guess next time I'll make it a weekend. Anyway, we went next door afterward and investigated a little cement silo thing, so at least we got a bit of exploring in.
I would've gone up to the top, but everyone on the bridge would've been able to see me. More pictures of the Mill and stuff from that day here: http://s71.photobu...Mill%20Expedition/ [last edit 4/26/2007 10:17 PM by LuminousAphid - edited 1 times]

| | | HAHAHAHA you heard the radio junix and I put in the office. Its on some really funny country station. Someone might have unplugged it since then.. Found it on top of a tool locker. -Tom
Oh ya and that part of the mill has always had the wall hinged like that I think it was part of some demolition probably when the mill was still active. [last edit 4/29/2007 8:01 PM by TomUE - edited 1 times]

Perhaps they made asbestos fortified cement there. I wouldn't go there without a respie.
PS: how did you get those pictures to load up on the forums w/o putting the pain in the ass "IMG" tags on each one of them? [last edit 4/29/2007 9:31 PM by Deuterium - edited 2 times]
