Walbot, Team Leader, A. Lien, Tanuki, Mabel Rowbotham (Wow thats a lot of us)

This is that place I was talking about. People who know where this is - don't mention the location on here as it would be a shame for this spot to get burned.

Maybe we should all check it out together on the 28th as it would be a great spot for us to check out after the get together.

Anywho here it is, its got a few floors and is in awesome shape. Very interesting, and a prime spot for some good photographs.

No kidding.

Now, I've never been draining, but I would class it in with most of my other explorations in so far as a white sweater might not be the best idea.

It was the guy who read Jenny remembers.

Or someone who reads Monday magazine and thought it would be cool to explore based on RC's book.

Or it was a demonic force that pushed its way out after many a decade trapped in an unloved stubby labatts bottle.

better guess again stud. I think more likely someone who wears about a size 10 Van's shoe.

Kids...please pay attention. Uncle KublaKhan is going to give you some (free) advice.

Leaving manholes open creates some serious problems for those of us interested in maintaining a low profile. Not to mention a serious hazard, should some 'bum' come along and fall into it. If something like that happened, you'd suddenly find many of the available entrances sealed permanently. You'd also discover that the authorities have developed an intense interest in what we do, and where we do it.

I'm not ready to get busted because some shithead didn't take the time to make sure their entrance was properly closed. I'm not prepared to accept liability for some idiot's mistake.

I should probably say that again: I'm not prepared to accept liability for some idiot's mistake. It will be a bad day if I end up having to answer for someone else's stupidity.

This is the kind of city where positive social engineering is akin to having a handful of keys. Playing nice with property owners, and being respectful of their properties, is of utmost importance. Breaking shit to gain entry is for amateurs.

Also, for the record, the word 'bum' is NOT part of my general vocabulary...unless I'm talking about ass, and in this context, it means something different (speaking of which, nice ass, nervsappy. If we're ever on an expedition together, you can lead...I'll follow). I suggest you read through the thread carefully to see what I mean. The people who utilize these spaces are there for a reason. I recommend you take an afternoon away from your goddamned Playstation to visit some of the remaining shelters and soup kitchens. It's a very very thin line between your comfortable life in Mummy and Daddy's house to where these men and women (and minors, too) now reside. The people you casually dismiss as 'bums' didn't plan on living in scraps and charity.

So please keep all this in mind next time you go out to play. There's plenty of action around, and if you're interested, and eager, just ask for some experienced guidance.

Now go on and get outta here...you nutty kids.

[EDIT: screamwriter...who the fuck is Jenny?]

Sage advice from uncle kublakhan, I do believe screamwriter was making a snappy witticism at my reference to Michelle remembers as Jenny remembers. Anyway the GCG is a really tight and respectful crew, not to mention knowledgeable and darn right friendly. If you should ever have the privilege of exploring with them count yourself lucky and listen up, these are experienced urban explorers who know thier shit. Bottom line check any attitude or preconceived notions at the door and come correct, you might just learn something. That I think goes for UE in general.

appreciate all the advice, KublaKhan. but alas, it was NOT us who left the manhole open. like i said, while we were standing in the only spot you can stand in that damn hole after the first stretch, we were being yelled at by a "vagrant." (is this acceptable to everyone?) he was yelling quite frantically and sounded serious. it spooked us and we hightailed it out of there. we got up to the surface and there was no one around. we closed the manhole and left. i suspect that it was said vagrant or maybe some of his brethren that opened it after we had left.
i am as interested in these tunnels/drains/etc as most here, and am not eager to have our explorations comprimised in any way. i am on your side!

Quote: "like 12 years ago" I lubs dat line Amandapants, it's so fine...

Well, therze been some verry interesting additions to this righteous thread/soap opera/reason to get out of bed in the afternoon :)/forum lately. To the worthy comments directed at the Newbs in the Tubes, Dudes in the Drains, call em what you will; I would just ad the following: This thread is 'like' totally accessible to law enforcement people. They have been known to check it out quite regularly.

On future explorations, you might not want to show your faces in photos, and use your real? names. If anything bad happened, (such as a Humanoid, -or even a Replicant, falling through an open manhole cover) you could be traced faster than it takes Fred Flintstone to fire a flare at Barny's mailbox.

Your efforts were impressive, and good photos, and I give you the benefit of the doubt with the lid thing. Either way, you have been learned. Uncle K.K. knows his stuff, and much more; heed his advice, and that of others, and you will be less likely to be harassed by hoodied beings below...

Amandapants, your blurb was fascinating. Please talk to your friends Uncle and learn all you can. And then let us know. You lost me on the flooding, I don't think that has happened here, unless you count the tide. Still, the Empress sub basement they say does flood at very high tides.

Now, I'm no expert, but there are 'Hoods' 'Hooded creatures' and the more recent 'Hoodies' -well known slang for sweat shirts with hoods. The Grim Reaper and his buds, or Klansmen for that matter, wear body length hooded garments. Whether Chelsea's Police Chief Uncle saw homeless people wearing hoodies and carrying candles in a tunnel, or whether he witnessed a full blown convocation, (group I mean) of Satan Worshipers is a great mystery indeed.

Being an optimist, I'll lead toward the likely hood he stumbled upon the elusive Satanists. His instincts to rally a SWAT team, would not have been as high if it were just a few punks or homeless people shooting up. I believe he saw the real deal, and for obvious reasons, got spooked and called for back up.

On the other side of the spectrum, a highly respected fellow, whose name is very similar to 'skeleton', was a 'good witch' and respected scholar in Victoria. Wherever there is good, is there not the likely hood of evil to offset the balance?

Please do more research, and get back to us. In the meantime, A big High Five to the friendly people at Area 51 in Duncan. They always make me feel most welcome... :)

Cheers,

A.

Oh and B.S. I couldn't get into the Empress Sub (Marine) (Base) ment so here is a photo from that film; The Year of the Dragon.
This is the real place. Crummy off TV pic, sorry, but look at the shape and size of those freakin pillars!

Alright, I'm just posting this here to say: Please do not e-mail me asking me to show you where the tunnels are or where a certain spot is or something like that. You can find it just as I have. I have no secret spidey-tunnel sense which allows me to locate tunnels/drains/abandonments with more skill than anybody else. All I have is dedication.

This especially is relevant if I do not know you that well or you have not contributed in the least to this forum/thread or have somehow proven yourself. If you shout me a holler sometime maybe we could hook up and go exploring and I could show you some good spots for a fun time and some beautiful photography.

It must be understood that as gratifying as it is to show someone a cool new drain or an awesome derelict building and have them appreciate it. It is not worth the following: Where one person wants to go back to the spot so they bring a friend who promises not to tell, who then brings a friend who promises not to tell. Then BOOM the spot is spray painted, nailed up shut, burned to the ground, or better secured and guarded.

It is really tough to know that more and more are gaining access. It is bad enough that spots are becoming less and less of a secret. But the thing I worry about most is the actual respect and regard of locations. If you are carefull that you are not spotted entering or exiting a place weather it be tunnel or building or drain, and make sure to close up your entrance behind you and dont leave a trace, then your good in my books.

Respectfully.

P.S. For the meet I figure we will be doing sort of a newbie run with some simple drains and/or structures.

If you're getting a lot of requests from people you don't know and have never met, I'd recommend sticking to the upcoming meeting and talking about what this shit is all about (UEing), rather than taking a group of inexperienced and unknown people out to a location. There's a lot of indiscretion going on around town, and it's generating a bit of heat from unwanted sources.

If this shit keeps up, we're all fucked. So instead of doing the Getting Lucky On the First Date with some newbies, go out instead on some sort of tour of Oldtown and admire the history of the place. You'll inspire a greater appreciation for these structures, and their place in Victoria's story, and it might even help weed out the jack-off's who only want to get inside to fuck shit up.

Building a trusted and qualified team takes time. For those who want instant gratification, they're likely not the one's you want out with you.

Trust is earned, it isn't easily handed out.

My $.02.

Hello all, I am new here and I am very intrigued by this topic. I've just finished reading most of every posting in this thread and have learned alot of things. I have heard of these legendary tunnels from my mom. As a kid she used to play in one in James Bay, the where abouts not to sure. She mentioned something about a firehall.

I've heard of another one that collapsed when they were building the complex where Wendy's is at the corner of Bay and Blanshard. It was filled with cement so there would be no access there but there should be parts of the tunnels on either side.

Another one is in Ross Bay Cemetery. It is in one of the Mausoleums and that is where the Satanists exit from to do their rituals when the do animal sacrifices. How much that is true now since there is a security guard going around there now.

I also have heard there is many entrances in house throughout the Farfield are. My mom, aunt, and uncle were looking through a house that was for sale and they entered a room. In that room they happen to find a secret entrance but it set of some sort of alarm.

I have been inside the Michelle Remembers house on Ash Road but it wasn't much since it was all falling apart.

Me and a couple of buddies have being doing some searching for these entrances and the most common one we come accross os the one under the Johnson Street bridge which looks like a storm drain as has been mentioned previously.

I want to enter these tunnels for personal reasons. I really can't elaborate to much on this on fear of repurcussions from a certain society that part of my family is involved in.

In my info gathering I have discoverd that the tunnels were originally used to transport goods of ships from the old inner harbour to the shops. Eventually they were used to transport slaves to Victoria if it was for actual slavery of to set the free, I don't know. I have heard that the most recent use is by the Satanists and the Chinese Gangs. I have heard stories that the Satanists hold human sacrifices down there and that there is a chamber where they keep all the bodies. The police allegedlly know all about this chamber but they can't enter since they don't have an exact location or a reason to go in. From what I have heard the chamber is under a private house and that is the reason why the police can't enter. Again this is all hear say so how much of this is true I don't know.

The only thing I do believe is the things I have heard from family and all the stories confirm previous stories. The only thing I would like to know isthe exact loactions of these tunnel entrances. I've heard many references to entrances but no exact locations. One that sticks out is the entrance by the lamp post, how many lamp posts are there in Victoria? Another entry someone mentioned that there was 2 entrances that are open but then the person went on to mention where the sealed entrances were and not the open sntrances. I understand this is a secret but why make general references to openings, it doesn't help anyone.

I look forward to hearing from you all in the future. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I will answer them to the best of my ability.

However she also said that people who live there dont want anyone else down there and would not think twice about hurting anyone. i asked her where it is but she wont tell me knowing i might go down there iam working on it though i will keep you all posted. if i do find out i will check it out to verify it first and let you know. and it wasnt a mall it was the eaton center that he went under ground for. sorry i was told a mall at first
