PHOTO CRITIQUE GUIDELINES

Notes for posters:

a) No more than 6 photos per critique thread.
b) Titles are better than no titles. If there is no title there must be a number attached to the photograph.
c) Always say what camera you're shooting with and what film (if applicable) with more technical information appreciated on a photo-by-photo basis.
d) Take what people say to you and do with it what you want, but don't get into -another- flame war over negative comments. People don't critique to start fights; it's for your own damn good!
e) All photos posted should be no wider then 700 pixels and no higher than 500 pixels. [Also, a dpi/ppi of 72 would be best for everyone.]

That's all I have... add to this as you wish.

Great idea.

A general observation would be the less images you have in the thread the more likely you'll get some input.

Numbers or titles are fantastic. I hate having to count them up.

I'm not a mod.

I nominate Glass for Photo Critique Mod!

Great ideas. I've thought for a while that some organization to the photo critique board would be a great thing. I thought there needs to be a little consistency to photo sizes, naming and/or numbering, and how many photos are posted, all of which Glass pointed out.

I think I'd be a difficult mod... but I wouldn't mind a mod coming along and making this topic sticky.

I'm not taking anything up with anyone.
This forum is all but mod-free (as it should be, I think) and the existing welcome-to-critique was unread and severely lacking. I've had a lot of positive response to my guidelines and I've seen a large positive change for the users in this section.
What's to argue about? Let's give some constructive feedback.

Glassius

EDIT:
PS;
Thanks to the mod who made this sticky (I'm guesing that was NB )!

I see what you've done and it works great: The user has the option of screening them, you kept the photo number low, and the full size image is very large, adding a lot to the presentation.
The only caution I have for you is there is the chance of the photo being stolen because of it's hi-res nature. Use your own judgement.

a high resolution photo can be printed into big images. you can use that pic and claim that its yours and then use it to make profit over someones back.

I'd like to add to this... And I think I made this mistake myself, so I'm not trying to be hypocritical here.. If you have a lot of photos from one place, post a few in one thread and then post more in another one later, not in a reply.. That makes it easier to look at. If they're edits of the same ones, then post in a reply to the original, but if they're new, post a new thread.
