Recent work near the airport, unfortunately they are only about 40 feet long and will be some kind of sewage treatment or storage.

Sewage treatment? Storage? Pffffftttt I'm still there! Awesome pipes. I wonder how long they will run underground for.

I've spend the last too many hours reading this thread and hre is my 2-bits...
I've been in the tunnel out of the Legislature to the Douglas Building (?) across the street, looks the same as the other side, no surprise and no secret.
I was reading some earlier threads about the junkies and tunnels...I wouldn't underestimate their memory, it still works, just fuzzy, and the fact 2 junkies talk about the same tunnel in the same area makes me believe those tunnels/drains/smuggling routes are there without a doubt. As for satanists, I'm sure they're around but I wouldn't call them satanists, just murderous nutbars who grew up watching too many horror flicks while their drunk dad beat them and their mom up.
The street culture in Victoria is pretty substantial and living on the street looking for warm places to sleep, even down storm drains, would likely cause them to find the tunnels we want to find, and keep them a secret for obvious reasons.
So yes, if you really want to find them bad, "become" homeless. BUt until I decide to that, I'm going to keep poking around and will post whatever I find too.

Kinda 'funny' that these 'homeless' folk all know something more than the highly paid tour operators.

Why would the tour people care about forgotten delivery tunnnels which they can't use for profit?

WRONG.

The Kabuki drivers tell (sell) stories about Victoria's secret underground every single day. Tourists eat this shit up. $60 an hour to start. Doesn't matter whether they can access them or not...it's the story they're selling, not the keys to the front door.

Visiting family in Montreal this week.

Checked out Old Montreal...a 400 year old city which pretty much put the DOT on North America.

Sat in a 350 year old church today. Amazing what religious fever can inspire in terms of Art, etc. etc.

Apparently, some janitor was poking around in the basement a few years back and wouldn't you know it but he discovered something really really old buried in the dirt.

So the city experts come on down and they drag with them a bunch of archeologists and historians and BINGO the basement is now an official heritage site with carefully delineated plots and everything is diligently marked and noted and nothing leaves the place that hasn't been photographed every which way.

Interesting fact: there's a tunnel that leads from the basement of this church to some 'secret' location...all discovered when the janitor dug up an old thing-a-ma-jig and blew the story open.

So I'm sitting quietly in this magnificent church, feeling God and all that shit, and the place is magnificent and I'm honestly experiencing a wonderous moment...realising that I'm sitting in a place of worship that has had many many many generations of faithful sitting in the exact same place where I'm experiencing this wonderfullness God stuff...and the votive candles are big and thick and they're burning and I'm loving the moment (seriously) and then I go outside and I mention that I'm from Victoria and this person asks me in very bad English if I've ever been in the tunnels in Victoria.

I said, "Pardon?"

"The tunnels, they're in the downtown part of Victoria. It's like the tunnel here," and he points to the church and then draws his finger along the road to the site where the church tunnel ends.

"You never ear (I think he meant 'hear') about doze (meaning 'those') tunnels in Victoria?"

"No. What about them"

"All over the place. From one end of the city to the udder (other). Dey (they) go everywhere."

"How did you hear about them?"

"I was there. I was in the navy and I erd about them. Some of my buddies went into them. Old days. Chinese people took them inside. We weren't allowed in Chinatown then. This is back 1950's."

So we chat about this a bit and his wife drags him away, and my wife drags me away, and that was the end of our conversation.

The bukakke cab drivers could make up any retarded shit they want. The tunnels don't even have to exist at all for them to tell their stories.

Okay, thaatsssit... I propose a (friendly) challenge. By post #999, which is of course #666 hanging like three bats in my belfry that we, (the core of this thread), Victorious Victorians or not, or anyone else with something to add, shows some written or photographic proof of tunnels; other than drains, sewers, sidewalk light glass block spaces, or anything that is not a tunnel, or built as a tunnel, and not shown here before.

People with military connections could have a good advantage. Great, get in there! Take some photos. I read a non UE thread of a substantial tunnel in Esquimalt now used only as storage. There must be some people that know of it.

I will follow my hotel lead. Rest assured K.K. and others, I'm not trying to blow the lid off this thread, and expose the whole sordid fascinating network, (couldn't even in my wildest knightmares). And we don't have to displace any homeless people. (And I don't think this thread could be stopped even if CSIS got involved) However, isn't it time for some proof dammit?

I want to see the tunnel from the hotel to the Union Club, or a section of the one from Ross Bay leading to the mysterious house where the body was found buried where they took out? the oil tank years ago. Is it not likely there was, or is a tunnel from Craigdaroch Castle towards the ocean? 90 posts to go, but whose counting? Let's just get some proof, we can flip it to members only if things get tasty and too much for the general pop.

A.

and Cheers K.K, ya, Montreal, now dat's some real Canadien istory eh?

Well, I probably should make a brief ammendment so I can sleep tonight. CSIS (Constable Smith: Interogation Specialist?)(well, I don't know what it stands for), could have a 'sales rep' in my area, or at the door in probably less than 3 minutes if they wanted to. Their power is substantial, and so is the board and moderators.

Either could shut anything down, but that wouldn't be much fun... And the thread would likely pick up in another format. That's what I meant by unstoppable momentum. In a week after work is caught up, I'll check my latest lead.

Great idea. Proof positive. The Final Answer. I'm back in Victoria at the end of the month. I have a couple of interesting leads to check out.

1) a retired city worker now living in Vancouver who claimed to have seen a 'tunnel-like' passageway near Fisgard and Douglas back in the 1950's.

2) a current city worker who contacted me through a mutual acquaintance with a story about a very deep ditch with re-inforced walls made of brick and wooden planks under Douglas St. near the Strathcona Hotel that lay about three feet below street level.

While I'm thinking about it, I should mention the guy I met in Halifax a couple of weeks ago who mentioned something about a rumour about a tunnel network under Halifax Harbour. Nothing specific...he just said "Yeah, there's supposed to be these tunnel things under the harbour."

This, of course, in reference to my telling him about the tunnel network in Victoria.

Old cities tend to collect these kinds of stories. Nothing strange about that. I wonder if there's a tunnel in Victoria that leads all the way to Halifax. Would come in handy for smuggling Keith's and lobster and that jiggy music those East Coast people like to dance to.

Thank god. Finally made it, from start to finish.

Anyway, I accepted proof long ago that something fishy was up in Victoria. I took photos more than a year before this thread started that prove that the Church of the Sub Genius logo is stenciled all over the Hall of Wonders. Middling Satanists are so 1969.

Something fishy about the Church of SubGenius? They're a parody religion. Seems logical for their followers to spray their logo in places where it might be misinterpreted by the casual onlooker.

I will have to check it out. The other interesting cement factory of course is BAMBERTON. Im not sure if that place is still up either I heard it was being developed at long last. I shot a musicVideo up there about 10 years ago. Even then some of the walkways were just lime deposits. It was by far one of the coolist sites. Above ground anyway ;)

hey, I live right near there (Mill Bay area...) I want to go explore it this summer...The road that goes from the Cobble Hill/Shawnigan limestone quarry to the Cement factory is still there...although overgrown. Theres some really cool exloration to be done around here (burnt bridge + beyond) there is a ton of old logging camps and ive come across some really weird things out there (cabins, grow-ops, old farm houses etc...) but im pretty chickin to go in some houses by my self.. Ive had a crazy hobo chase me out of one place before. Another really cool place that I really ahve to grow some balls to explore is the old mine shafts on Mt.Sicker, I have a 10 mill. candle power light that I can shine down the shafts and I can see old mining trucks, cars etc... but some of these shafts appear to be 200-1000+ feet deep.

That sounds pretty cool, old mining vehicles left to rot. It's the lack of oxygen in some mines that disturbs me!

Werd. Personally, I'd leave the mine stuff to someone else, lest I become the next Darwin Award winner.

Unless there is some juicy gossip that I don't know about, I think it's already too late for you to win the Darwin Award. Removing yourself from the gene pool is going to be difficult at this point. You'll have to set your hopes on something else...

Give me a shout when you get back into town.

Hey, I was wondering how I could get to the Hall of Wonders,

I am new to urban exploration, and just stumbled across this thread-- I think your stories are very intriguing.

Any directions or help would be appreciated, I am familiar with the area.

Thanks,
Matthias.
