I FULLY agree with White Rabbit

Good for you. This means I don't have to put as much effort into my replies, since you can just read what I wrote above.

BUT you never backed off, you did most the banning and deleting

I most certainly backed off. For a period of about a month, I did no banning, no deleting, I didn't even read the Site Concerns / Forum Issues / whatever. I also didn't read the mod board. When someone PMed me asking me a question, I told them to ask a mod. So don't tell me that I never backed off.

You make it sound like the mods are to blame

No. The people who come here just to cause trouble are to blame.

Plus this "global poll." Please, it was a sham to start with

The questions were unbiased and clear, I asked for input from the community before I posted it, and the results were surprising but now understandable. Don't tell me it's a sham just because you didn't agree with the results.

yes, most the people here are pretty upset.

No, they really are not. If you'll look at the rest of the site, you'll see hundreds of people blissfully posting in the LDB, the forums, sending each other PMs, and otherwise enjoying the resource. They don't care to hear your slander, and it would be wrong to take away this site because of people like you.

I agree. Please stop repeating yourself. I think you have said the same thing no less than 10 times in the past month now.

The politics is really spoiling the fun of exploring. I'm on the verge of asking for my account to be closed.

May I push you over the edge?

Av,
Run it any way that you see fit, it is your site and you can do whatever you like with it. Weather I see eye to eye with how you do things is besides the point.
There are things about UER that are way beyond awesome. But sometimes I see the way it is going and I get sad. I have said things to this affect that you have openly disagreed with, but that's cool. I never once felt that everyone should think the way I do. But I do want to say my piece from time to time, it's only fair and human to want to do so.
Some things I like about UER:
*The LDB and the wealth of information that it provides.
*The fact that I have met many explorers through this site that I now consider close friends
*The fact that I can share and enjoy my passion for UE and photography with like minded people

Something that makes me sad about UER:
*Expressing an honest opinion can only be done if you understand that you run a significant chance of a one way ticket to bannsville.

I am already expecting to get flack for saying this and I'm sure a PM will be sent to me saying I am trolling. I sure I will be asked to "Fuck off" or "Take my opinion elsewhere". If I did go elsewhere, that would be destructive in my eyes. I have mad love for UER and that is why I am still here, that's why we are all here. We all want UER to be a good place for explorers to share ideas and opinions. But the truth is that we are scared to speak our minds because we might get banned for it. Although we don't like how things are now, we still love this place enough to work to make it better.

I think we need to meet in the middle somewhere, find some common ground and try to make it better. Pulling the "you're with us, or you're against us" tactic is exactly what started the war in IRAQ(granted this is just a board on the net but still...).
I know it is you site Av, I also know you have no problem reminding us of that on a daily basis, and that's cool too as you have every right to do so. But you have created a community of explorers that is around 4000 people. Weather or not you like it, you have a major responsibility on your hands and you need to do right by your members. The question you need to ask yourself is "do you want to be a leader or a boss"? There is a vast difference.

One final thing. I have composed this to be as constructive as possible. I would hate to have this called trolling or hate speech or anything else. I have made it clear that I want to see UER improve. Stirring up shit is not in my agenda so please dont delete this post or ban me

I don't quite know exactly why mods were dismissed and all the bullshit that is being talked about. BUT...from what I gather, it's from morons posting on here, who have no interest in exploring and just join to make friend or to be a general pain in the ass. And some people try to call it free speech, when it's really annoying spamming. I think that banning is appropriate instead of letting stupid posts and stupid people overrun the entire website.
Yea great, that's what the Other forum is for, just random junk, but let everyone get involved and that's the only forum that is used because the people on here for good intentions get run out by dumbasses. Then those dumbasses start to invade all the rest of the forums and people get sick of it.

*If I'm completely off why all the banning is going on, excuse me. That's just what sounds like to me has happened.*

Here's a story about a girl, we'll call her Emily and her dealings with silly little bullshit forums and the politics that happened there:

Emily was happy on an exploring website where she made quite a few friends. Things were great and the main group was happy and got along. Then all of a sudden an influx of idiots arrived. Anytime Emily would post, her post *about exploring by the way* would be turned into something sexual, and she was uncomfortable and annoyed by this. She tired saying something to the administrator, but he did nothing except tell her that these people would go away. No one in the main group listened and kept telling her that the idiots would soon get bored and leave. But they didn't, every thread was off topic, there were just plain stupid posts, drunks getting caught claiming exploring, it got pretty bad.

The administrator did try to keep the Other forum for the silly posts and would move things, but everyone on the site just moved to Other and the regions and exploring forums were left unattended for the most part.

Finally, after her real name and where she went to school were revealed to a group of little kids that she already knew of, and went to her school, and that she didn't want them to know who she was, Emily got mad. The main group started inviting the little kids, and the idiots along on explorations and ignoring Emily's warnings that these were bad people. Eventually Emily realized that this group wasn't worth fighting for, and the people in the group all had major personality flaws that she didn't like and left the site.

Emily now resides on UER and is very happy, even though there is a lot of problems that happened right after she arrived.

She found a new community, and even though many of them are 20+ hours away from her, she's content to stay and is keeping her fingers crossed that things will calm down, and the morons will be taken away soon.

*EDIT*
As for other putting in their two cents on how a site should be ran, I see no problems, but there's no reason to start a poo flinging hissy fit over it if you don't get your way.

Maybe the Cowboy has said it 10x. Maybe 100x. But he is no more guilty of re-iteration than anyone else. We see the same debate positions stated over and over again on this and every other site concerns thread. And you know, he is right. We all need to just move on.

I remember running one of those sleepy little dial-up BBS's in the '80s. Back then a userbase of 200 was considered large. And I got sick and tired of people stringing bull back then. I can only imagine what it must be like trying to please 1000's of insatiable internet UE'ers. So howzabout cutting Av-X some slack and stop expecting whatever image of the pefect sysop it is you have in your mind's eye. He's tried leniency, he's tried a middle of the road approach, and now he's apparently trying a no-bull method - and only because alot of people forced his hand.

Now go ahead and dismiss me as a baglicker just because I'm not jumping on the "Crucify Av-X" bandwagon...

Just wanted to point out that this is the third or fourth time in the past few days that I've seen someone say "Please don't ban me!" in their post.

I'm sorry, but that says something.

The same goes for UER. When you join UER, you should respect all of the members of UER and especially the administration.

I used to respect Av and UER a great deal. Over time I slowly lost that respect after seeing the same selfish double standards and inconsistent policies applied over and over again. I'm a pretty easygoing guy, so it took a lot of effort for Av to lose my respect.

I really don't have a problem with Av running the site however he wants, but No one knows what he wants, and I'm starting to suspect that includes Av himself. Policy changes randomly, or is applied differently for different people, and you really have to dig deep to find out how and when rules are actually enforced, especially with the forum issues getting nuked recently.

Set policy, enforce that policy, reject all complaints, that's fine. But for god sake make the policies clear, explain the consequences, and don't cut your friends slack for things that would get others banned. That might work for a treehouse club or a tiny local forum, but it's not a healthy environment for something as huge and widespread as UER.

Turn off the internet and go play outside.
