Three pedal-powered steeds:

First is a RANS Rocket, a short-wheelbase recumbent that's my main "touring" bike, with fenders, rack, dynohub lighting system, beefy rims, and an enormous seat bag.

Then, there's fun on three wheels: a WizWheelz recumbent trike. I have it set up with skinny tires and no fenders, but there's still a rack on it, and I have a rack bag for tools, spare tubes, etc.

Finally, my commute/short-hop bike, a garbage-picked Schwinn Varsity that I've cruiserated with upright bars, fenders, and (of course) a rack.

Welcome spRocket (hey, another Chicago person!) and all the others who posted in this thread (and in the Bicycle Forum) thus far.

I kind of started this forum as a joke thinking maybe one other person would join and there would be prehaps one really lame thread and thats it. I'm happy to see that hasn't been the case at all.

So, yea...thanks for participating.

I have 2 bikes:

a giant mountain bike that's pretty low-end (graduation gift about 3 years ago). it's got road tires on it. I ride it around the neighborhood I live in because the roads here are really bad.

I also have an early 80's schwinn touring bike that I take downtown and such. it needs a new seat and handlebar foam (it's currently hockey-taped) pretty desperately. ouch.

Hey ya'll... I just found this board.

I used to race XC, but kinda got out of that during college. I've worked as a bike mechanic at shops in Richmond VA and State College PA. I don't ride very much any more (not enough time or motivation). I still have a couple of bikes - A Santa Cruz Chameleon mountain bike, and an old Miyata road bike that I converted to a single speed. The Miyata is badass, single speed is the way to go for an urban bike.

I've been riding since I was really young. Before I started school I believe. I rode BMX for several years, until the local league fell apart.

I've got a Mongoose Expert that I got when I started racing and a bike my friend found for free, don't know the make and model, but you can see it in the thread I started.

I've got a Trek MB that's probably 8 years old. When I lived in MPLS I used to ride it to work about a half an hour each way. Before they replaced the 35E bridge over the Mississippi River, I rode my bike across the catwalk under the bridge from north to south. That's about it for my biking UE.

My wife used to have an old cruiser before we got new bikes, so probably 9 years ago. She was riding it under a bridge slowly on a bike path and a vagrant jumped up, knocked her off her bike and stole it.

This thread is ultra old.

I've been car free for almost three years. I ride a Trek SL1000. I ride almost year long, and huff it on foot during the other part. I also help organize Critical Mass in my town, Lincoln, Nebraska. It's cool to see this board up on such an awesome website!

I've used to bike a lot. never any real commuting, but i've wanted to change that.

currently, i have NO running bike, nor any money to build one. i had a pile of bikes with good parts, but my dad, in his infinite wisdom, decided to scrap them, leaving me with a single bike for parts.

if i could source myself a seat, a seat post, and a saddle, i'll have a bike. too bad no one ever throws them away around here.

the bike i'm building is an older peugeot. late 70's maybe. the frame has some abrasions and such, but i'm going to make is a project and paint it up since i had to strip it down to get running again. fun times.

PM me if you want to get join our board and get fit!

Good to see this board is still somewhat active.
I race. My road bike is a Olmo Record, team model, and my mtn is a Trek 7000 with a sweet set of Judy forks.
My team's website is: www.monstrhealthcare.com I still have much to finish on it, but you can check it out.

If I get off my lazy ass, I'll post a few pics of the bikes.

Sweet, turns out UER has boards for 2/4ths or so of my life - I ride Downhill/Freeride MTB, haven't been able to keep it up the last year, living in a small town in missouri didn't go all that great together with freeriding.

Nevertheless, I put a rig together that I've used whenever there has been time - based on an Evil Imperial frame and a RockShox Boxxer fork, it's probably the shittiest bike I've ever had. Can't stand riding hardtail, and the huge fork messes the balance up completely.. So if anyone feels like buying an Evil frame, I'll be around for another three weeks or so before going back to europe I'm taking my Dominatrax out of retirement when I get home

Can't stand riding hardtail,

I love hardtail. You can climb much better with no rear shocks.

And I am a climbing fiend. Nothin I like better, or am better at.

New K2 zed 3.0, after my last hardrock was stolen.

Nearly, nearly made it into the top 250 for the P2A, but for leaving my seatbag open, having to stop and look for/recover my goodies. Feh. Next year, then I can start in the first or second wave...
