Jester's right.

We are in the middle of something big here, never have I ever seen someone in an administrator role resign and turn it over to the membership...

...
We have a chance few ever have, we stand among legends, many of us have had a chance to meet these. Ninj, Jester, Av, Mike Dijital to name a few. Dedicated individuals all brought together in a common interest. Our common interest, and we are presented with a wonderful tool, UER, Deggi5, the Wraiths, Cave Clan, and many, many others. Now we can shape UER for the future.

Why don't we let Av go. For something to change, there needs to be a reaction. Well this is it, this is the fire. Who will stand with those who care?

*steps down for his soap box*

well said Axle..i was thinking some of the same things

So what I am seeing here is that we're just re-structuring the leadership to be able to better handle the stress and problems of the board? Rather then to re-structure leadership to repair the problems on the site?

The goal is to bring in a leadership team that feels they know the best ways (or can discuss them) to both better deal with the stress and also find solutions to the various problems (rela or imagined).

I believe that when the stress and problems of the board is transfered over to the re-sructured leadership, the problems can be repaired more efficiently and with less stress put upon those in those position.

Just to throw my 2 cents in worth, I think that the LDB should have a maximum of let’s say 100-200 pictures. And after a year of being demolished a site would be removed from the system.

I really don't like this idea. By erasing buildings from the LDB after they are physically erased, demolition and modernization would win. We're preserving the history of these places, and discarding them after we're done with them is exactly what we're trying to prevent.

A council/board/whatever you want to call it is probably the best option for a few reasons:

Distributed stress; it's not all one person taking the heat.

Rational decisions; no one person having more say than any other on the council means as fair a system as is possible here for coming to conclusions.

No power trips; with all council members all sharing equal value, everything voted upon, means no one person power tripping.

This is precisely my stance as well.

I dont get that at all. Wouldn't demolition actually free up a site? People seem to complain that publishing leads to bad people going over and tagging and vandalizing. What on earth could be the concern over demolished sites?

is a private board, subscribable, that I would like to use to discuss this.

Thank you.

When I click that link I get a message telling me I'm not allowed to see the board.

My opinions on the ldb.

-Each locations have a maximum of pictures per album or per user.

-No addresses should be mentionned, just the city, maybe the neighborhood if a BIG city to protect a little from vandals.

-Each location would have a delete option, if 15 or more members find it pointless (like this one http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=23393)

I agree except for the maximum number of photos. And 15 or so members shouldnt have the power to delete...only mods or whoever is running this place.

well the about the 15 people vote thing, when the set number of people voted to delete the location, the mods would have to review it just to make sure, then chosse wether to delete the location or not.

The maximum number of photos would be per member, this is because some people have 150 plus pictures of the same location in different albums that repeat the same subject over and over per member.

So about a week ago I get chastised for posting my feelings about the LDB. Obviously I was way off topic because it's still the topic of discussion, and has a global vote.

A few facts we should all consider:
The net is not private. Anything you take from your personal (real) life and post on the net becomes public property. If you're a giant corporation you can hire an army of lawyers to protect your rights, but face it; You post a picture here and it becomes public domain. If you think any of this is private just google your username.

If you don't want it stolen, lock it up. If you don't want it seen, keep it covered. If you fraternize with urban explorers... well... our curiosity is our common bond.

If you have done things right people won't be sure if you have done anything at all.

For reasons that will be revealed shortly, this thread has run it's course. Keep an eye open for an official announcement to come sometime today.
