Double-fisted-post. Breaking rules. Etc.

I stumbled upon this old post and I couldn’t help but feel the air in my body depended on reading beyond the “ guy stuck in pilsbury”

I’m glad I had this feeling for, the simplicity and straight forward ness in which you proclaimed the responsible parties to be, responsible was astonishing. I am from New York originally and my friend you have some New York in you. Nothing passive aggressive about what you’ve stated.

Too many of us lack this mentality to be friggen real. What we do is dangerous. More than just dangerous but every time we go down we know not if we are going to come back up.

That’s what sets those of us that are prepared for the worse - from those “dumb kids”. Those kids are simply excited and looking for a place to belong. Granted that is the worst by far worst kind of person you want exploring.. but no ones offered a way to stop or change it. Until now.

What all should consider is, not all that wander are lost, not all that are list wander and those whom are lost have no grounds to begin to explore.

That being said again I’d like to commend the brilliant ( I suppose man) for this post, but also I’d like to suggest that you keep posting this information. Pre explorers will benefited from it. May I be so bold to suggest to the proprietor of this sight- to have a code of conduct written by this person. It will save life’s if left where everyone can see it long enough. And whom , can you answer, doesn’t want to save life’s?? I’m sure the nice monitors of this web site sure want to save some lives.

As for the dub kids... this is a hard one because it goes against much of what I believe in .. they are usually high or drunk which is not acceptable in that code of conduct that has been so far unspoken * cough cough hint hint* excuse me must be the covid acting up. Anyway I suggest a way to stop them from closing down our sacred anti social zones our un trekked un tainted world- to stop them from putting inexperienced rescue workers at risk and return them back to rescuing cats from trees and people from burning buildings- where they belong. I admire those men and women who rescue so don’t take offense to the cat in tree comment please I wasn’t serious. But I am serious about where they belong. They do not belong underground they work for the public as in public enemy number one to urban exploration, freedom finding , peace protecting , leave me the heck alone I don’t want to be one of your sheople..uhm people.

How do we do this? Well we can offer ... uhh here it goes.. so conflicted on this one ... apprenticeships .. sort of. Be a guide and help train them. Take them to the well known places and just screw around with a bunch of unnecessary but fun to have gear. Offer up your gear for sale that you don’t use anymore or train or loan it. Many of these kids may not have access to some of the stuff we do and they don’t even know what the hell they are looking for. Not to mention that a good gear supply costs over a grand. Sure in a real pinch 150 at rei maybe now days 250 but still when I was 17-18 I .. ok when I was 17 if I had 20$ it was going to mc Donald’s some booze smokes and gas for whomever so chose to cart my ungrateful distructive ass with.

My dad taught me something and that was how to really really show you have what it takes to make a difference. It may involve doing things we don’t like and there are many conflicting situations here however looking at the very end of the road- it’s our job to protect these places and it’s not going to happen if we let a bunch of kids keep dying down there or getting stuck like a kitten down a well. We can be Resources that teach them like the wise words that met my eyes - we can put the unspoken aloud and out

By no means so I suggest we all go adopting a bunch of pre teens or teens or whathave you but we can atleast teach the ones we find. If they felt like they could come to us to ask advice wouldn’t they? Sure but all I want to say to the little bastards is go away and take your booze and drugs and trash with you cuz I’m sick of cleaning up after your ungrateful little asses. ( if I was really that sick of it I wouldn’t do it truth is I care about kids crawling around in hobo pee and hypodermic needles and broken meth pipes just like I care to keep that shit out of the places I love. ) fortunately the places I prefer only host that stuff in the entry area but none the less it’s our job to set a better example and be more responsible to the entire picture.

I get where Trash Panda is coming from. MSP is loaded with new kids who have no idea what they're getting into. There are at least 2 technical rescues like this a year and the cities have even made laws specifically targeting urban explorers in response to that. It's been a growing problem.

It seems like they come in waves. A bunch of kids will get into it together and make a groupchat to share spots, then after a few months, a couple of them actually get pretty decent at it and the rest fizzle out. But I agree, theres a lot of people who don't know what they're doing. My friend has had to do some of his own "technical rescues".
