Took a visit to this old amusement park on US-12 in Southern Michigan. This area/road used to be a summer vacation Mecca for Michiganders, as well as a main thoroughfare from Detroit to Chicago. I-94 and the emergence of more exciting entertainment options have left this stretch of road a quite interesting "snapshot of the past." It is lined by kitschy, 60's-era attractions - some abandoned, some barely hanging on. They include a "Mystery Spot" that defies gravity, a Wild West Town, a Haunted Railcar, and the Prehistoric-themed amusement park you see pictures of below.

This attraction opened in 1963 and closed in 1999.
At its zenith, it offered multiple train rides as well as walking tours, to check out all of the fiberglass creatures.

My fiance made an interesting comment (we are millenials and our parents are boomers) - something to the effect of "seeing these attractions sort of gives me a better perspective on what my Dad's childhood looked like/consisted of." It's true. These types of attractions simply take you to another time; what one might call "The Golden Age of the American Family Roadtrip."

Dinosaurs and a cactus (some vandalized):

What was the ticket booth/refreshment stand:

Remnants of electric run throughout the park for the trains/lights/etc:

Part of a brochure advertising the park back in its heyday:

haha thanks TDHIYT,

walking through the woods at night with those things appearing out of the dark definitely made me jump out of my skin a few times. Kind of cool though.
