I have a location I'm looking to hit up near Port Alberni which is a good hike in the back country, distance depending on how far along a deactivated road my all-wheel-drive can go. I can do it alone, but would prefer to be less of a target for bears (already had a few encounters while hiking logging roads out here) and typically don't like to go underground solo.

Any Vancouver Island explorers interested in joining?

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Weather is looking like a big improvement this week, so hopefully can make this happen soon.

So I got called back to work (I've been off since March 28) and won't be around Port Alberni again until at least September.

I can provide co-ordinates if y'all wanna go without me.

Has anyone been corresponding about this? Made an account to see if there'd be any interest in organizing a group trip up there (I live in Victoria but could drive a couple people).

Also is this an underground thing, old building...?

I suspect there'd be too much snow at the altitude for my SUV to do the drive. Mostly underground but I heard there's some surface stuff left.
