Been meaning to post these to separate threads since April but things got ahead of me so please enjoy this dump of some selected photos from some of my favorite places I've visited lately.

1. Started off at City Meth, first urbex location I've visited. A bit cliche but nonetheless a really cool building, thinking about doing a history post about this place.

2. More CM.

3.

4. Capped off the day with a trip by the dunes. Scooby Doo fog.

5. Later on I visited DS solo. Lots of security for some reason, couldn't get too close to the main complex for fear of being spotted by security.

6. More DS.

7.

8.

9.

10.

11. Next up is HM High School in Gary. Lots to see, we were going to check out a hospital nearby but spent so much time at the school we had to cut the stop. It's huge, highly recommend.

12.

13.

14.

15. After HM we had a little bit of time left to stop by US on the way out of Gary.

16. On the way back to Chicago we stopped to meet a friend at a lake on the border so one of our party members could do some fishing. Me and the other guy hiked through some bush to check out an abandoned hut we spotted on the drive up to the lake. Behind the small house we found a train yard with a bunch of derelict axles and a few overgrown train cars.

17.

18.

19. New phone, new camera. Decided to give it a spin at SW Park in Chicago. Started off sitting on a rock perch by the lake.

20. Cop car parked around the corner in the park, had to trudge through the bush.

21.

22.

23.

24. After a long march through thick brush morale was low until I came around a corner and spotted a doorway to the inside of these massive structures. I was tired but this find reinvigorated me to find the tunnels I had seen online.

25.

26.

27. Took a chance and headed down this road.

28. I found them! As I walked down this long corridor sparrows swirled around me, it was beautiful.

29.

30.

31.

32.

Looking forward to logging more hours and taking more pics this summer. If anyone wants to head to Gary sometime I'm definitely going back soon. Cheers!

Love your pictures! Going to Gary this week! Hopefully i can mix it up a bit. Seems like everybody that goes there, travels to the same 3/5 spots around downtown lol. I totally understand though!

Coworker from Chicago says number 21 looks familiar and thinks 27 is the Chicago river.

Any chance of a name of this park?..

DS has had security for a few years now, it was the wild west back in '16 and a reliable source tells me several incidents (one fatality) led to the lockdown.

Did you find the fallout shelter in Horace Mann? There's a couple entrances in the basement next to the boilers behind thick steel doors. The only portion still accessible is the narrow rooms filled with old water barrels and a small shower room. At the back of the rooms are stairs leading downwards into the main shelter, but it's flooded all the way to the top of the stairs so it's no longer accessible.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

Gum factory on Bridgeport has the same security presence, think it got the wrecking ball this week if I'm not mistaken.

DS was wild, my friend sent me this photo of a flyer for a guerrilla punk show that was held there

No, I don't think so. We saw a pretty good chunk of the basement, even crawled in the chimney tunnels in the old library but I don't remember seeing the shelter. We'll keep an eye out next time!

DS is the only property owned by the State of Illinois within Chicago that is for sale. As stated above by JonRev it’s had 24hr security for a few years. Legit armed security. I spoke with one of the guys less than a month ago. He said they are constantly catching people there.

These are so cool!
If possible, could you let me know what park it is at picture 21? It looks vaguely familiar

Edit: Actually, I found the location. I remember hearing about this before but never getting a chance to visit it. I am so doing that now!

I was there a month or two ago and found it. Still flooded! But pretty epic just to see it in person and know it's there.
