Former US Navy barracks used from the 1940s - '90s, now sits what's left of the rotting 10 story concrete structure that's been hit hard by taggers and scrappers. Each room typically contained two bunk beds and lockers, some rooms still had mattresses left behind. Located just a few feet away from this building was the former toxic dumping ground the Navy used. Quite strange they stationed people so close to it, as the site to this day still contains hazardous radioactive material.

Looks like it's a pretty solid construction. Reminds me of the old US Army Hammerhead barracks of the 50s. I saw some of those in the process of being demolished. So much rebar and layered concrete. They were built to withstand a minor attack.

I know at least one decommissioned Army base that still has almost an entire block of vacant run down Hammerhead barracks.

Interesting explore, you got some nice shots...look out for the local feline population; if we learned nothing from Fallout 3, irradiated cats tend to have 18 half lives. 😏

Curious architecture - wonder why they built the windows so big.
Kind of surprised to see that so much was missing given the contamination.

I love the first few sunset (or sunrise?) pictures!

I once went inside every single room of this building in order to find some graffiti by a famous local artist. It was worth the trouble ;)

Good to know this one is still up!! I wonder if the power-plant-esque building right next to this one is still open? Heres some film shots from a few years back.

Sweet shots! Doubt this place will be up for much longer considering the development for housing over the next few years. Pretty sure the power plant you mentioned is decommissioned.

This building’s elevator shaft doesn’t get enough love.
