My friend Roamer of Ruins and I were exploring an abandoned coal mine ruin which had been active more than a century ago. As soon as we made it there we found a lot of empty foundation blocks, and a few wall parts. I also discovered a strange pipe poking out of the ground which seemed to be part of the original site but had a modern lock. We also found a giant water tank which was maybe 20 feet deep, with no easy way down without a rope. Since we had none, we turned back at the time.

Welcome to UER... good first post
That looks like a test well to sample ground water pollution.

Certainly a fun little 'splore! Next time we go back I have to remember bring my climbing ladder so we can descend into the tank. Only slight hitch was that one park ranger roaming around the trail.

Probably best to stay out of that hellhole.
Little to gain, lots to lose.

My thoughts too, as there doesn't seem to be anything really down there.

Fair point. It is near a bike path that I ride fairly often so I'll probably see if there's anything we missed previously.
