Abandoned around 2014, this house has remained relatively untouched until 2018, when vandals broke in and smashed everything. This house was on the Hespeler Heritage List, as it was built in 1880, however, the vandals breaking in convinced the Cambridge City Council to demolish it to make a subdivision. It was demolished in early 2019, and my photos here are from when I first discovered it in 2015. Sorry for the poor quality on some of the photos, it was pitch black and I was using a cell phone.

That’s to bad when this happens. Glad you got in there before it was demolished. Sometimes when they put these houses on the heritage list they just leave them to rot and get vandalized then they just tear them down. That list doesn’t always work. Nice post cheers

Yeah, it was an awesome staircase. As you can see I kinda forgot to take pictures of it, but others have taken pictures on https://www.ontari...ion)_loc13043.html if other people want to see it

This home wasn't the one registered heritage, it was the log cabin that sat behind it. That home was demolished first, months before the one in your post.

The house you photographed was PRISTINE in 2017, in 2019 it got absolutely trashed. Not exactly beyond saving, but definitely added to the cost.

Heritage activists tried to get the city to preserve the one in your post as recently as 2016 (it was 'abandoned' either 2014 or 2015), even going as far as arranging a meeting between the owner, the city council and the heritage department -- but city council said there was 'nothing of value worth saving'... So it was demolished.

Such a shame, it was an incredible home. I spent a lot of time there.
