Abandoned Ghost Town in the woods explored in B.C. Canada.

Located high up in the mountains approx. altitude is 3,700 feet above sea level sits an Abandoned Mining Ghost Town in the woods called Bradian, British Columbia, Canada. A visit to these historic towns of Bradian and Bralorne was fantastic. The drive to this location was amazing with great views of nature and mountains. A lot of the roads were very high and just on the edge of the mountains making it a very dangerous drive. I didn't film to much of these roads as you cant take your hands or eyes off the road for 1 second. Approx. 6 hours north of Vancouver sits 22 abandoned houses in various conditions. Some houses are sealed up tight and others are wide open.
The Bralorne Mine operated from 1931 to 1970. This mine produced more then any other mine in British Columbia. 4 million ounces of gold and 1.2 million ounces of silver had been produced here.
The town sat abandoned since 1970 until a family bought the town for approx. $100,000. For 17 years the family slowly fixed up the houses to protect them from rotting away from the elements. The family then sold the the town to a Chinese investment company for approx. 1 million dollars. The Chinese investment company after 6 months of ownership re listed the property for sale as their plans fell through. This is a special place that I will never forget.

Yeah that's great stuff. I felt the isolation. Well documented.

Nice! I've been procrastinating a trip up to Bradian for way too long. I'm not surprised that the Chinese investment fell through, never did make sense to me. It's simply too remote and too far gone to be a viable tourist attraction. There aren't many thriving historical tourist attractions outside of the Lower Mainland, even the one's just off the highway struggle, Hell's Gate for example.

I'd really like to hear what the Bralorne locals thought about that deal, suppose I better go ask them myself.

Yes I didn’t understand it myself. The good thing is the Bralorne Mine is in full operation now but the houses just sit. The drive it self is so worth it.
Most of the roads on the way I couldn’t film as you can’t stop because of falling rocks and avalanches. Plus there are logging trucks that can’t stop ether. I recommend going for sure. Glad I had a rental suv because it took a beating lol

Don't wait too long, everything up there is starting to feel the age and rapidly decay now. What's left of the pioneer is collapsing and the houses in Bradian are in pretty rough shape from the first time I went up six years ago.

Another decade or two and there won't be much gold rush era stuff left anywhere in BC, sadly.

Yes! Some houses have steel roofs so that will by some time for sure. But some are starting to fall over.

Great post! The first time I visited Bralorne and Bradian was when i was 12. My father grew up there because his dad worked in the mine. A couple years back, my dad hiked a local mountain in the are to dump his fathers ashes; on their way they found an old hospital with caskets and embalming stuff inside. It is too bad that all the houses are boarded up now. There are a couple other surrounding areas with abandoned buildings as well.

Great story, I would love to see the abandoned hospital but it’s probably gone I’m thinking. Bralorne sign coming in say Population 65

I managed to make it out to Bradian this summer, finally got a chance to go through the pictures I took.

Sadly I didn't allocate enough time (only planned for a day in the town as part of a larger camping trip) and didn't get a chance to explore all the buildings. There was more then I was expecting! An excuse to go back for sure.

The first house we entered was the most modern, looks like it was inhabited up until the early 2000's. Modern electrical panel in the basement, and still has an electric meter on the outside. I was surprised at how much stuff was still inside.

Also found the house Abandoned Urbex pictured, the newspaper is still on the easy chair waiting for someone to come home and read it!

Some other pictures I shot in various houses along the main street.

So much more to explore here, looking at satellite images there's more buildings a bit off the beaten path and into the bushes some.
