Hi everyone! I'm Lasciel. I've wanted to get into UE for a while now, and this is my chance to do so, I hope. I'm from Texas, born and raised, living in Fort Worth (near Altamesa and Granbury, by Chisholm Trail Parkway).

I hope to interact with everyone in the upcoming months, since I won't be exploring in winter (too effing cold, you know!), so I'll be getting ready for my treks and such. Hopefully everyone can give me some ideas, locations, and help prepping for my very first UE trip.

I'll be exploring with my roommate, as well as (possibly) my younger brother or best friend. I'd like to meet one of the Fort Worth members ASAP, so maybe we can go to some of the cooler/more spooky places together as a group.

Anyways, I'm rambling now. Hope to see you all out there!

Lash out.

Hi from a fellow native Texan. I lived in DFW until 2012 and explored some while I was there. Now I live in the country where theres not much "urban" to explore.

DFW used to have a lot of active explorers but based on activity on this forum Id say its declined a lot. Dee Ashly is a member from your area that's pretty active Im sure she will see your post.

Don't let cold weather stop you explore something indoors. DFW has some great active locations to explore and underground locations its always warm in the deeper drains like Rat Race drain even in the winter good luck and be safe.

Thanks for the info, 2Xplorations! I'll look for her, see if I can get in contact with Dee. Any tips for finding new/unheard of places, or figuring out which ones have been ACTUALLY demolished, vs just marked as demolished?

google maps is a good place to start and seeing it in person if you still have doubts, keep in mind the DB isn’t anything super special and you’ll have much better luck using google to find locations.

Normally we don't ask for locations in the forum bad manners. Tips for finding places? That's different I used to just drive around, see something interesting and jump in. Then I started moving out of the area doing rural locations and finally moved myself out of a urban area LOL

Read here even the archived threads can help you. Follow railroad spurs, follow storm water channels, look for smoke stacks, broken windows, tall grass and weeds indicating no recent maintenance the list goes on even smells can lead you to an abandoned building LOL but driving around the metro-mess is key, research potential sites on Google Earth I found several "ways in" to great locations by finding a likely route on satellite imagery (sometimes a difficult long one) onto a site.

I made it a practice to park a long way off and hike in. Only time I got "caught" was in Marshal Texas at the now demolished foundry police drove right into the building while I was there scared the Hell out of both of us, he just warned me about the dopers and hobos he encountered there and we shook hands and parted ways. Don't count on that happening in Dallas or Ft Worth though!

Cant speak for others but I don't mark a location as demolished unless I see it for myself, or with satellite image verification which can be out of date but Google Earth is pretty damn current in DFW. Partially demolished should not count but I reckon some people do that. Also a fair number of idiots will change stuff in the DB for no reason with no field check. When I was a moderator I had to fix dozens of locations people had hosed up or added bogus info to, some even creating bogus locations! ^^@*%#ers

Long answer but like I said good luck and bring back some photos.

Or you could just hitch a ride with Pear his daddy takes him to some nice bandos LOLOL

If youre in North Ft Worth one of the best / easiest drains in DFW is close. Beaver Drain http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=24882

No crawling no rappelling no bad odors. Its pretty long and you can even feel the freight trains going overhead near the end! Kinda scary but its just vibration haha

yeah the DB isn't anything special only a couple of DFW locations in it ...

Welcome to UER!
I am in DFW (right smack in the middle, near the airport) and there are definitely active members and quite a few explorers that aren't active on UER as well. A lot of the better-known spots are starting to dwindle in number, but there are still a few left in the area.
I'm in California for Thanksgiving but I'll check back in when I'm back in town next week and maybe I can make some suggestions for some other people to hook up with too. We used to do local meet-ups, but those haven't happened in a while now. I did the last one I think, but it's been over a year since that happened.

As far as weather and seasons go... I actually prefer exploring in the wintertime. I'm probably in the minority, but lets face it, winter in Texas isn't exactly the same thing as winter in Canada, lol. I prefer it mainly because of my intense dislike of bees, wasps, ticks, and chiggers (and too many other things to mention). Oh, yeah, and mosquitos. Yuck.
