2016. This sanatorium has been vacant for some time. Despite it's grandeur from the outside, the majority of the inside was gutted for renovation of some sort, that never came to fruition. This is what was worth taking pictures of.

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

These are great! Very cool stuff. This is one of those places I just never got in the car and went to even-though I've wanted to. Your photos are some of the best I've seen from here.

Quality of photos are superb. Even with most of the interior gutted out it still looks beautiful.

Man I tried this place a few times way back. Every time there was someone parked out front and power on inside. Never got in. I did get into a few other buildings on the property though. The chapel down by the river was pretty interesting. There was also an old dorm building on the other side of the street that was neat. Though its been gone for some time now.
I wish I got into this building now after seeing your pics. Nicely done

Thanks! We got lucky as the power was out in the place and the back sliding door was open.

I was also attacked by a bat in the organ room.

Exquisite! Simply exquisite. Do you have a photography advice thread, or common tips you give people when asked? I'm sure you're asked for photography advice all the time, but I'd love to learn from you, especially about framing and grading.

feel free to reach out to me with questions. I'll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Here are some free tips that everyone should follow:

Use a tripod when inside, it will help immensely.
Take your camera off automatic mode. I generally shoot in AV mode, using live view to manage my framing and exposure levels (saves a ton of time).
Set the white balance to daylight inside of buildings.

Post processing:
keep it simple, don't overdo it.
straighten your images if needed.
Always check levels to ensure proper colors.
a little sharpening goes a long way.

That's great advice that I never would have thought of (well except that last tip, everyone knows that), thanks! Any tips for positioning the camera and/or picking a frame?

Look at other photographers framing that you like. And try it. Look through Macgruder's past posts here. And just look at them. They're so great, and you'd learn a lot.

Macgruder, adv. Pack, satchkins, baldaran, are some of my favorite photographers on this site, some simple emulation goes a long way too!

I never have been nearly as good, but I'd try to frame like macgruder all the time.

I usually try to position it mid chest height, but it all depends on the room or where I am.

Try some stuff and you'll figure out what works for you.

I think your first shot is my favorite picture that I've ever seen. Fantastic framing.
