Today I was going to explore the Red Hook Grain Terminal in Brooklyn with my mom. What I didn’t know, was that the site directly next to it was being used as concrete storage. The Grain terminal hadn’t been used in 50 years, but since it was on the land it was under their jurisdiction. A worker caught me and escorted me to the security office. It was less of an office and more of a trailer. It was run by a big African American man who took himself a little too seriously. He had already called the police so I just stood around s my mom tried to chat with him. I thought that since it was Brooklyn, they’d have bigger fish to fry than a trespassing report. So you can imagine my surprise when two cruisers pulled up with two cops each. I’m not sure what exactly he said on the phone to warrant that kind of response force, but one of the cruisers left almost as soon as it had arrived. After all, a middle aged woman and her son isn’t very threatening. The cops were absolute bros. Some of the chillest cops I’ve met. They asked a few questions, like where we were from and for our licenses. But after that he just told us to enjoy our stay in New York. And to leave the property of course. But enough about my day, what’s your security run-in story?

I’ve fortunately never had a real security run in, but I have encountered work trucks.

Had a cop (or what we [5] presumed to be, it was around 1 am) follow us around a psych center. We were foolish to shine flashlights around the building with tons of windows (or broken windows). Stuck out like a sore thumb. We get to the top and you could tell a car was directly watching us. As we were leaving, a car with a spotlight shined down the path we were heading back on. All 5 of us jumped into a luckily nearby bush. My heart was racing like crazy.

I don't have many, thank goodness, but a few weekends ago I was exiting a building and walked RIGHT into an unmarked patrol car. I don't know how he didn't see me - I just backed up real slow and slipped back into the building. Whistle whistle whistle - nothing to see here! Haha.

Well you've been trespassed out; don't go back.
Next time they most likely will arrest you.
Run from security, never run from Leo's.
Probably help to not bring mom... they could seriously fuck her up legally if you're a minor.

Probably a good idea. I don’t own a car yet, but when I get one I’ll start doing more stuff on my own

A bike works very well.
Just don't get it stolen.
Read the hellholes thread; falls and structural collapses are the biggest hazards you face when sploring.
Every step counts, results are permanent... trust nothing.

They aren't real. Birds are just government drones. All birds.

That's why there are so many dead birds in abandoned places. Their batteries die while watching us

They're pretty mellow. Had a nest by my back door for years.
They're real low key even grass mowing didn't bother them.
Unless you knew they were there you probably never notice them.

Carpenter bees are more aggressive acting but rarely ever sting.
They ignore humans unless you directly attack them.
Carpenter bees will guard nectur sources from other bees. Even seen them run off birds.Interesting behavior as there is no central queen or workers; each queen has her own nest.
Yet one bee will do guard detail for hours on end.
How do they pick who does it?
That guard bee collects no nectar and she/he(?) is it's own provider.

If you get caught eluding/evading, that's a felony.
Why risk turning a misdemeanor trespass(if anything) into a felony?
I've talk to dozens of cops over the years.
Most times that's all that's needed.

Jeez but have you ever seen africanized bees? They sting in mass numbers if you so much as even walk near a nest.

I played with them.
African bees 0, blackhawk 6 with 3 none sequential stings.
All bees max flight speed is 15-16 mph; you can easily outrun them... if you want.

Yes

8, 10 years ago this was a real issue. My understanding from what I read is on their push northward, the African race has been "diluted" so to speak by genetics from the native bees which we all know and love and thank for our very existence. This is just the opposite of what we were warned over and over would happen the African would take over and ruin the native bee/honey industry.

Crisis averted?

Well maybe not yet. But everywhere I have noticed hives in my area they don't pursue and attack like several I have encountered before. Could be a latitude thing I do not know about killer bees status south of the middle of the state say, Austin and below. Store shelves in my area now stock a dozen or so raw honey brands saying Texas honey etc.

Some people can swell up and die from just a few bee stings. Its rare. Not me. The more Ive been stung the less they bother me. Africanized(killer bees) aren't any more potent just more aggressive and the shear number of stings makes them a significant threat.

Now back to all your security stories...
