Hey all, been a long time since I have posted in this regional board. Anyways, I am moving to the Atlanta area (Douglas Co) in a month or so and looking to make some connections in the area and get back out exploring. Been about 7 years since I last explored anything in this area.

I'm new to ATL and have been exploring obvious locations recently! Would love to connect with an old member of the community.

ok - gonna show my age - what in the world is a Discord group? I keep seeing it and I am inferring its some sort of posting board??

I've googled it and that didn't help. I'm clearly going to need sock puppets and small words. Anyone up to explain it to me?

what in the world is a Discord group?

Discord is a new messaging app originally marketed for gamers. It is not so far off from UER's AvChat in concept except much more modern and sleek.

You join a "server" (for example, a uer server or an Atlanta exploring server). Within the server, mods create "channels" (just like any other chat app, eg Pacific Northwest, Southeast, etc.) . You can also create multiple voice channels to talk in (and they may have added video? haven't been on it much). Moderators can also use a host of bots and commands to automate a lot of the routine moderation.

It's very convenient for having a dedicated chat for large groups and then breaking up the discussion into smaller groups.

wow - sounds pretty slick actually. I love technology, but the older I get, the more just sitting on a hill and staring into the sky increases and increases in appeal. anyway...…….

Thank you for such a detailed and informative reply!
