Hey there, I made this account a few months ago but never got around to properly introducing myself. I'm someone who's been interested in urban exploration for a while now but has only recently found the time to really start pursuing it. I've been to several relatively easily accessible places with friends (and gotten a decent number of pictures to boot, which I'll post eventually). I've decided I want to branch out and start communicating with the community here, and maybe make a few friends along the way. If you live anywhere close to the greater Boston area, feel free to DM me!

Hello, I've been watching Urbex on Youtube for a while now and decided I'd like to start doing some exploration of my own. Unfortunately, in Central Louisiana most of the abandoned buildings get destroyed by hurricanes after only a few years. Even the more hearty buildings in the area end up being torn down even if they survive the hurricanes. I'm interested in meeting up with anyone in the area but should be able to make the occasional trip to other areas too.

Good morning all. I have always loved exploration and abandoned things. I was recently introduced to Urbex and it has becoming a huge fascination of mine. I love the art of urban decay. When the war between man and nature is displayed and man is losing. I am also a historian and a story teller and I love the stories and lives behind the empty windows. I am in NY City for several weeks, the. Lancaster PA for several months and then I am moving to Athens Greece for the foreseeable future. I hope to be a positive and productive member of this crew. Cheers

New here. Live in California. Been lurking a bunch of tunnels and spots between Bay Area and Sacramento. I don’t know how to post my lurk photos onto here though. Help?

Sup everybody, I'm from Baltimore and I've been fascinated by abandoned buildings ever since I was a kid. Some of my fondest memories are from long drives to relatives' houses with my parents, when they'd pull over at the occasional abandoned farm house for me. I've been on several adventures over the years, but recently I've been exploring a lot more often, with friends new and old. Looking forward to sharing stories, photos, and maybe even a location or two. Can't wait to see what everyone here's been sharing as well.

Hey Casket I explored mostly in that area of CA too.

I upload images to imgur and then use bb code (when you type up a post, click the image button in the top bar for easy access) to display it. The built-in image upload of uer works too but I don't like how it reduces the quality.

Hello explorers. I am Obsolete, I was introduced to this site about 13 years ago, but I finally made an account in 2016.

I work in historic preservation and I often get to see abandoned structures that are secret, hidden, or have heavily restricted access.

Hi I'm Jeff. I've been going out to explore on my own for a while, but i haven't seen much. I live in California and am trying to get into photography just as a hobby since I like the old gloomy feeling of abandoned buildings, I haven't seen that many as i live in a somewhat newer developing town but I plan on a little travel here and there. I look forward to posting what I find and picture I'm ever comfortable with sharing thanks for your time.

Howdy! I'm Ziggy. I've been fascinated with abandonments for a very long time and want to finally get into exploring some of them. I live part-time in Colorado Springs, CO, and part-time in Atlanta, GA (in ATL at the moment). I'm interested in all kinds of urbex experiences, but especially draining. My dream is to find some abandoned theme parks/ carnival equipment to explore. Haven't really had a chance to do any exploring yet, but I've been scouting out the waterways near me for promising outfalls, scouting the streets near me for promising manholes, and doing a lot of reading around this site.

Hi!

I'm a 22 year old university student living in SW Wisconsin. I've done my fair share of urban exploring in the past, and it's something I'd really like to go a little deeper into. Nice to meet y'all!

Hi all!

I've done a bit of UE over the years (mostly before I even knew there was a name for the hobby) but have really gotten back into it this summer after checking out a couple of 1920's era abandoned power plants and some local drains. Discovered this site a couple months back while searching for information about tunnels and drains in my hometown and figured I should finally create an account.

I'm in Victoria, BC (Canadian West Coast) and have, for the most part, lived in this city my whole life. Always interested to meet up with other explorers, if anyone's in the area feel free to shoot me a DM!

Hello, I am new to the UER forum but have been exploring and photographing abandoned places since 2012, primarily staying connected via Flickr. I am from the Great Lakes area in the USA, and have traveled to over 40 states to explore and photograph abandonments, and two countries.

Aside from abandoned places, I also enjoy going underground and doing subway tunnels and drains, and the opposite - bridges and rooftops as well.

Thanks for reading!

Hello to everyone out there,

I am new here and new to exploring. I am from the SF Bay Area. I have a friend that has been a long time hiking buddy who I have also dragged into this. I have been exploring for about a month now and I am hoping to network with others in the area and have a good time exploring the decaying world we live in. I recently bought a 35mm SLR camera to shoot with but I am new to photography. I will also add that not only am I new to exploring, but this is also the first online community that I have tried to be a part of, but I have gone over the FAQ and I'm going to try to not violate any rules or expectations.

About me:

I am a commercial electrician by day but I love the outdoors. I also love road tripping and off-roading. When I'm not outdoors I spend a lot of time working on cars or riding my motorcycle.

I look forward to becoming a part of this community!

Cheers,
-Matt

Hello, my name is Josiah. I'm 18, I've just recently gotten into urbex, I'm based in Madison, WI, and I have a few questions. First being what counts as a post? I see under the full membership requirements that you have to have a good amount of posts - "let's say above 50". I assume that doesn't meant location DB updates, but in that case what does it mean?

I'm ready to respectfully find out as much as I can and use it to my advantage to explore as many places as possible. If others come with me, I'm glad that I can be with them but I don't plan on stopping for anyone - however cringy this bio may sound I'd like to think that it's all in earnest, that I really won't stop for anyone.

I try my best to stay hidden while exploring, going with one or two people in black while it's dark. I really like food, also - always bring lunch is the first rule after being cautious and safe. Thanks to anyone who reads this and can answer my question.

That could mean either threads started or forum posts in general, but with that wording I'm leaning towards the latter definition. This would count as your first post out of "the required fifty". Also, most of the DB is only available to Full Members.

But I would advise you to not treat the FM requirements as a checklist to complete. Participate in conversation, your post count will naturally go up. Share pictures (but not any other location info), the other members here will appreciate that.

Welcome to UER!
I just wanted to quickly add to what Adorb said about the 50 posts thing (which is a pretty arbitrary number, TBH). Of course, we love new threads and really love new pictures, but we also encourage new members to contribute their thoughts, (constructive!) criticism, ideas, etc. to other members’ threads as well. Most members put a lot of effort and thought into their posts so it’s always nice to see that other members have actually taken time to enjoy them. We also have a lot of quirky threads - if you do a little digging, like photo scavenger hunts, best black and white, regional topics, and so on, that you’re also more than welcome and encouraged to participate in. A lot of the latter threads are located in the “photography” and regional sections.

Hey all, I'm Edward. 19M College student from Maryland, have been exploring for almost 2 years. I "run" a urbex group with a bunch of buddies from high school who all are just as crazy as me for this kind of stuff. We have been to damn near every popular, easily accessible location in central MD. We have recently started to branch out to northeastern PA and DE, as well as moving west in MD.

(Please ignore that one year badge, as I made this account when that group first started getting really serious about the hobby, then promptly forgot about it and it has sat as abandoned as the places we explore. Going to try to get active here though!)

Happy 'splorin!

Hello everyone.
I study a bit before visiting places, so I have solid background info on a location and it's history. That being said when I visit I'm prone to spend more time at a site, rather and a quick "in and out" visit, but there have been times when that is the only option.
I've done plenty of sits in the southeast, but I have been prone to venture out of my comfort area from time to time.
