Just wanted to share a fun experience from my latest exploration, and I apologize but no new pictures yet, I'm waiting to post new content until I've actually got something worth looking at.

This past weekend a fellow Warrior and I set out on a very early morning exploration to a well-known abandonment that we have visited several times in the past. At about 8 o'clock in the morning we were clambering around in the shadows of a heavily tagged locker-room when all the sudden distant voices began to approach. This particular location is pretty accessible to explorers so normally I wouldn't be concerned, however in the past I have seen the authorities yank people from the premise and being that we were there reasonably early I got a bit spooked. What began as faint whispers soon turned to passing, rushed shouting. The dialog itself was inaudible, but slowly increased as if a whole army was passing by. Finally I worked up the nerve to pop my head up to a shattered window and then I looked out and saw it. Bicyclers. A freaking mountain biking rally was riding by. I have never felt so stupid in my life. My fellow explorer and I laughed it off and continued with our exploration trying to justify our cowardliness, but when you think about it we were all worked up over a group of harmless bicyclists.

Sorry again for not having any new photography to share, hopefully this little encounter will suffice for now. As always, The Warriors team thanks you.

Until I've mastered my style of photography it may be best to leave the pictures threads to the professionals (like you). And it wouldn't hurt if The Warriors "hint guys" could all invest in a decent camera or two. But regardless thank you for commenting, always appreciated.

Lol. I was woken to a similar sound once. I had just moved in maybe 3 weeks prior. I worked 2nd shift at the time, so sleep in on the late-ish side. No real voices, just one giant WOOOOOSH. The first time I heard it, I looked and saw one guy riding his bike by. No clue as to what I heard, I laid back down and heard it again just a couple minutes later. This time I caught them. Lap 2 of literally hundreds, if not thousands, of road bikes in a tight pack.
Giro d'Grafton - Tour of America's Dairyland. .85mi course that went right past my house and open bedroom window. And trust me - hundreds/thousands of road bikes are LOUD. Mix in the rear cassette of half those in a carbon fiber wheel and they will indeed wake you up...

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

Sounds like a fun explore. As for the unexpected company...When asked why I explore I truthfully answer that it supplies me with three things I enjoy.
1. Exercise. Often more than I'd counted on.
2. A chance to take unusual pictures.
3. It sometimes it puts a good scare I me.
I don't think I'm alone on #3.

Unfortunately you had worked the graveyard shift the night prior, but at least you got a free wake-up call out of the ordeal. Luckily for us the road was across a small ravine so not close enough for any of them to look inside the building unless they actually stopped and walked over. Thanks for sharing,

I wholeheartedly agree, having a desk job myself sometimes that jolt of adrenaline/fear is exactly what I am looking for. Hopefully you get some great pictures on your next exploration.

My sister and I were exploring a familiar place we've been before when we heard something outside - it was someone outside shoveling & sweeping broken glass and debris off the sidewalk out front. We snuck around inside trying to get a peep at the outside where the sound was coming from - we knew we only had one or two ways out and where the sound was coming from was one of them. We spent a half hour sneaking around trying to figure out what our next move was. Hide in place until they went away, try to sneak out the back and make a run for it, go out there and confess our sin? Finally I decided to just go towards the sound and take my lumps... well when I got to where the noise was coming from I see that it was just the fluorescent light fixtures that had been ripped from the ceiling swaying in the breeze making sounds scraping against the drop ceiling framework. I burst out laughing when I realized what we had been worried about for the past 30 minutes. Sounds can be deceiving for sure!
