Some mehhh photos, all taken on a cell phone at the West Virginia Penitentiary. These were taken earlier today with my good bud uedamien. It was his first visit and my first since 2016. It is indeed a lEgAl tour, but well worth it. This place has a history like few other prisons.

The West Virginia Penitentiary was arguably the most violent prison in American history with 998 deaths compared to 28 at Alcatraz. Closed in 1995 due to violations of the Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution for cruel and unusual punishment.

Nice shots! I need to do this tour, I've only gotten outside pics so far (had toured another prison that day, and this one was closed when I got there), it's an imposing structure.
Supposedly Charles Manson had requested a transfer here, but was denied...good to see you again, thanks for sharing!

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

These are really really solid photos and a super interesting location. Always wish Tennessee would follow suit with these other formerly abandoned prisons and start doing tours of the safe parts of the building.

That'd be a pain to get into for real. How's it compare to Eastern State, because that's a little too touristy for me. I've briefly considered this place from time to time but it's nice to hear it's open.
