I take what I can get in rural Alaska. Sometimes, that's the excitement that comes with finding signs of human activity out in the wild.
My exploring partner gave this place its name, graffiti cove.
I've never heard anyone in town talk about this place, and have not heard any of the students I work with mention it.
It's along the coast in a national park in the south east of Alaska. You have to climb to get to it.
Not sure if this graffiti was the product of cruise tourists, seasonal workers, or someone local. The long text graffiti has struck me as interesting - though I haven't been able to decipher it. Someone would have had to whip together a pretty large stencil, and haul it out to the wilds in order to do something like that.
There were some other signs this was possibly a location that blocked the wind just well enough to shoot up. Maybe that's who been painting the other graffiti.
Other signs of human activity - nails in logs. Maybe left over from an old damaged dock?
Regardless. Fun times in Graffiti Cove.
Happy nearly spring, Alaska!
