Now a State Park not too much remains of its former glory; however, that doesn't mean it wasn't worth exploring. My father and I decided to take a walk around the former fairgrounds this past September. I thought it might be nice to share 5 of my favorite shots from that day (54 pictures were taken in total).

I can upload some more of my pictures if people would like, I just didn't want to overload this thread with the very first post.

That's a General Foods Arch.

General Foods had 11 of them at the 1964-65 NY World's Fair.

That's right; and (for those who have never been to Rocky Point) there's even a plaque at the base of the arch with a brief history.

Looks like a cool place. It's good that they built a park around it instead of taking it down. I love old ski lift type things, I REALLY love climbing them . The General Foods Arch is cool too. Got any photos from different explores?

Sadly by the time I got there the last of the park's buildings had been demolished (all that really remains are the arch, lifts, and the bases of a ride and what may have once been a tower of some sorts).

Got any photos from different explores?

Unfortunately not. So far this has been my only one (though hopefully it doesn't stay that way for too much longer).

Get out there and start exploring! It doesn't have to be big or be hard to access. If you see an old building then investigate some. You never know what you'll find. This site is a great resource for learning more about UE, just make sure to follow all of the rules. If you ever have an open weekend, go out on a bike and look for stuff. Maybe follow some train tracks or just type in abandoned and wherever you live.
Just be safe and don't get into trouble. I look forward to seeing more from you!

My coworker and I currently have plans to check out a couple forts (just waiting for a day we both have off). I'd definitely prefer going out with at lest one other person (mainly as a precaution); but yeah, there's really nothing stopping me from just scouting locations by myself (besides my own laziness of course).

I remember rolling through here and as SOON as we pulled up to the gate just to take a picture of the sign Security was right there. Never said anything to us just sat there. Was weird that there was a place with such history and what not hidden in a sub development

I was curious what was left there, I haven't seen much coverage on it since 2010 probably. Shame to see so much of it gone, glad they kept a few pieces in tact.

That's awesome, I explored there a few times over a decade ago now but I had no idea anything was still around. Also didn't know about the arch, very cool. Thanks for sharing!

Indeed, a cool relic.
When I was 6 yo my family went to the World's Fair.
It was stylish, incredible and huge.
The rides were out of this world.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
