~ Snow White Winter ~

Now it starts to feel like real winter. Wednesday I did steal 3 hours for a quick visit to these two locations. Snow brings one more challenge to photographing: I like photos without footprints, so I really must think from where I will photograph first and second and so on to avoid footprints in photos. There is also that ”when I walk through here that’s it” kind of thing. I somehow like that.

Dreamlike Forest:

Tree Falls:

From White Light to the Black Darkness:

Cold Silence (in the Sauna):

And from there to this small hydro power plant in the middle of nowhere. There obviously have been some kind of industry, but I still haven’t been able to find what kind of. Only information that I have find comes from inventory of Finland's rapids... from 1980. It tells that this was built at 1934, and that’s it.

Once There Were More:

Shrine of a Ancient Civilization:

Still Standing Tall:

Decades to Grow:

Cold Stream:

Silence and Solitude:

The Bridge:

85 Years Later:

Long Rest with Rust:

Frozen Metal:

Old Mechanics:

-----

And today’s off-topic-extra-bonus-shot comes few days earlier, when there was beautiful, foggy winter day:

That’s it, have a nice weekend.

These pictures make me glad it's 49 F and only raining here!
#Still Standing Tall, what was that?
Is that a pumping station below?
That's crazy cool

Cool! I like seeing other people's snow pictures, and not have to experience it!

I feel cold just looking at these pictures. The last few are really cool. I love the frosty bits on the machinery.

Im with Randomesquephoto, Love the look but awfully glad its sunny and near 60 degrees here in Texas. I wouldnt want to experience this every winter. But. i must say how truly lovely your snow and ice shots are. Love 1 and 2. My fave is Frozen Metal. i keep looking at that shot and imagining what it would look like when it thaws out, all wet and drippy.

Hey, it's not more than -8 Celsius (here now 18 F) now. And back then it was just like -5 Celsius. But I can understand, especially because my hands and feets freeze immediately.

I suppose it is some kind of transformer tower? Electricity related stuff? At least those white porcelain things are fuses as far as I understand. And if you mean that white brick building, it is electric power station.

Thank you very much.

I can understand that, there is a point. Says one "no matter summer or winter, outside or inside - I'm bloody freezing!" guy.

I'm so happy too that I did get there. It's quite small place, and I've been photographing it sooo many times so I did feel little... you know, is it worth of walking through all that snow etc. But then there... magic did hit immediately; how bloody amazing place this really is! And when finally entering to that power station - those frozen machines especially; how beautiful can metal be? Amazing.

And still I'm feeling that they could be catch in photos so much better. But that is one nice thing when photographing - you can't never ever be perfect. Just like my life all the way - far away from perfect.

Bloody hell, how lucky you are! It's should fall down to 5 F here soon, now it is just 17 F (and we are just going to walk 1km to pub and then of course same back later at night).

But hey, this is one thing I really love in Finland. 4 completely different seasons, at summer warm and light and no night... and winter this coldness and short days when light looks so damned beautiful... I probably wouldn't change that (even I'm freezing all the time).

Yeah, wouldn't be bad idea to catch that moment too.
