Abandoned Middle School in Rural NC

Explored this abandoned middle school a couple weeks ago, had a really good time. There was a decent amount of graffiti,(mostly in the gym) but it seemed to all be done by the same two people.. I really didn't get the feeling from my research that too many explorers had been in this place either. Couldn't find anywhere to park, so I had to drive through a ditch & a field to park behind it

Cool pics, I was there a couple months ago and have a funny story.

So I parked right out front. Easier to do that and plead ignorance then park out back like you did Walked around first, scoped out the exits around back and then went in. Eventually, after about 2 hours, a cop came and chirped his siren. So snuck out the back and walked around the side taking TONS of pictures along the way...just continually taking pictures of anything while walking and met up with the cop. Told him I saw and obeyed the no trespassing signs on the building, but there was nothing on the property so I just walked around taking pictures. Just got a new camera and was trying it out (100% true). Started scrolling through my last few pictures and he seemed fine with it. Asked if I got everything I wanted, told him I saw the gym through the glass doors and took a bunch of pics through the doors, but would have loved to get a picture of it.

"How about this, you run in and get your picture and come right back out and then be on your way...." So I went in, took 2 more pictures I had already taken like 90 min ago, went out and showed him (he was already back in his car) and he left. Before I even made it back to my car, he had left. He didn't care and was just doing his job

Did you go in the building across the street? I was by myself and the wooden floor was all bowed out and collapsing and stuff so I didn't dare go in without a friend.

That's awesome man, I wasn't expecting any responses from people who'd been here. My dumbass initially got into the building by climbing through one of those tiny windows you can see next to my car in picture #18, probably should've scouted a little more and found the obvious entrance at the back haha, but my friends and I were just a little on edge and wanted to get out of sight since my car was still somewhat visible from the road.

I love that story you have about the cop, I'm glad he was cool and let you off the hook. Did he come into the building or just sit on the side of the road in his car?

This was definitely an awesome spot though and worth the drive, got some great pictures

I didn't get the chance to check it out since it would've been a long walk through a super open area and my friends and I weren't trying to test our luck

That's one hell of a story. I think rural police are nicer than police working in urban areas. The people I've met in rural places exploring just want to make sure you aren't vandalizing the place while in cities everyone will chase you down and give you a ticket. Glad you got out without catching a case!

I parked out front when I hit it, sometimes it's better to hide in plain sight. Thanks for sharing your shots! As a side note I'd be wary of posting any selfies inside an explore for obvious reasons. For example what if you explored this place and in the next week it burned to the ground. I can assure you that the police, etc do use the internet. Just a FWIW, nothing more...

Gotcha, appreciate the advice, you make a good point.. I just really liked the pictures I took of my friends and wanted to include them, but I'll try to do that less in the future

Honestly I probably should've parked out front like you did, but so it goes! Made for some extra entertainment. How long ago did you explore this place?

Love that place! Graffiti has sadly ruined it though.
