IN NEED OF DETROIT LOCALS

Hi guys, I'm going on a trip to Pittsburg, Cleveland and Detroit this winter for some bike stuff but was also planning on hitting some bandos. Pittsburgh is closer to me and I'm only in Cleveland for a day so I've decided to try and find some actually good spots in Detroit. Last winter I drove past the Central Station, Packard, United Community Hospital, and Cadillac Stamping Plant but didn't have time to really check them out. I've found a few other possible spots but I'm looking for a local explorer to gimme some more intel. Most of the spots I find are just from Google Earth so I never know if people have explored. Also, not being a full member really limits what places I can see so if there's anything outside of Detroit or one of the other cities let me know. Just message me on here or dm me on ig @ryan.little.photo

It's not just you, but I've noticed a significant increase in the last week. Can't believe I'm doing this twice in 6 hours...😣😫

Half the fun of going to Detroit is driving blindly in any direction and finding stuff all along the way. What's the point if you just do what someone else tells you?

I'll be canvassing Detroit residential neighborhoods later this month if you're looking for a shooting partner. Drone stuff and houses and such.

Yeah. It's good to see some young faces getting interested in the local history around them, but unfortunately you're unlikely to find anyone willing to explore with you here for at least five years.

It's nothing against you- even the "asking for handouts" can be forgiven at your age, because you are still way more agreeable than I was online when I was 13. When I was your age I was getting into daily flame wars on small gaming forums, deliberately provoking drama for shits and giggles, and received two strikes from the head game dev himself for instigating problems. When it comes to online faux pases made by 13 year olds, I don't really have the moral high ground to hold grudges.

The reason you'll be hard pressed to find other explorers is because you're a minor. A 13 year old and a 20/30/40+ year old entering an abandoned building together is how you get child endangerment charges, because involving minors makes every legal issue more serious. Most explorers won't meet up with anyone under 18 just to be safe.

That being said, we still welcome photos and stories of your explorations, and if you bide your time you'll be well established by the time you're ready to join the greater community offline. Believe me, I started exploring at 16. I know the struggle well.

But hey, being young isn't all bad! Legal punishments for minors are far more lenient than they are for adults, and if you're ever caught you can play the "dumb teenager who didn't know any better" card to get out of trouble. It worked for me.

So don't be discouraged if people don't meet up with you for a few years. You don't strictly need to meet up with another FM to obtain FM status- you just have to post a few more exploration photos for longer in order to establish yourself. Just hang in there and keep exploring, because your photos are already pretty good.

I've seen a pretty big spike just this week.

I guess, at least people are posting.

To be fair, I was going to cut him some slack if he is 13.
There are some notable FMs here that got there FMs way before they were 18.
And he hasn't imploded and called us twats... a just a lack of site awareness, I guess.
So far not sinking ship material.

As I was typing a response you replied. Thank you for not being as closed minded as some other users on this site. And to anyone I offended with the OP, I just thought that maybe people in this community would be nice and respecting of others. Next time you see someone who's new to this site, maybe think how they'll see your response because it could leave a bad first impression.

By "nice and respecting of others" did you mean that you wanted us to have "blindless trust in someone with 0 credibility other than an IG and some bando pics"? Lol. Come on. Don't come in here asking for locations when no one knows you. Nothing makes you more special than the other new people who get ripped apart for asking the same stuff.

Post stuff, find your own locations or meet up with some others who can show you already blown up locations, and most of all GAIN TRUST. Don't ask for private information when you have given nothing for us to believe we can trust you.

...it could leave a bad first impression.

No disrespect or anything but please understand that YOUR first impression of THEM doesn’t really matter here. Considering that you’re the one who wants something from them, it’s YOU who needs to make the impression. They’re not selling AVON here. They don’t care what you think of them. They will carry on doing what they do, with or without your impression.

i have always found that if you come at it more of a I will be in town exploring and would love to meetup with a few like minded people in the area, you will get a better response. Once you have had a chance to chat with them you them might ask about location, normal starting with I am thinking of going to x,y,z Are they still viable or standing. Do this before asking and showing that you have an idea of what you are looking for and are willing to do the research is good sign. Other times it is good to wait in till you meet up to ask about other locations. It also goes without says, but I will say it anywise, Discuses it in PM not in the open anyone can read forums.

I will never understand how somebody who has to be told where to find a location to explore can call themselves an explorer. They are missing the whole point.

This is perhaps the most ridiculous trend we have on UER now. Why not go find something to explore yourself rather than just go to places other people on the Internet told you about?

Thats just lame. I suggest everyone should ignore and declines to respond to these idiots and their location demands.
