More stuff from last year. I don't think this is my best shooting, but there wasn't much time to work on composition with all the wide open areas, we were moving pretty quickly. We did get to the center to see what was left of the blast furnace before daylight ran out, so mission successful. Narrowly dodged a security guard on the way out, just to get the heartbeat up...

Great stuff!!

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

Looks like you were out there when they were taking it all down? Really cool photos! The lighting looks great in 3 and 11.

Thanks all!

We didn't even know they were demolishing it when we decided to go, we were pretty bummed when we drove by and saw most of the furnace and surrounding structures were gone. We had to stop and try and get closer, even though there was almost no daylight left. The last three shots are 30 second exposures, it was getting way to dark to be climbing around that rubble without any light.

Wow... That furnace surrounded by rubble is ominous. Great work.

I spotted it intact on satellite view a few months ago and was planning on making a visit soon, then the imagery updated showing it was gone. Always makes your heart sink a bit but it's worse if you actually make the journey. I drove to West Virginia once for a steel mill that was supposed to be the highlight of the trip- 3 or 4 blast furnaces still standing. We arrived to find the place being turned to rubble.

Anyway, looks like you still managed to make the best of the situation. Excellent pictures as always, I'm getting a nice desolate wasteland vibe.

Thanks man,

Yeah I've had some similar trips, usually it seems nothing goes right on those trips when that happens, you forgot something and had to turn around, the plan b and c dont work out, the restaurants you choose to eat at suck etc.

There are some facilities here that are in production, some open pit mining on the other side of this, multiple active railways running straight through this unused section of property.
