It's a shame it was so wrecked. Had probably been standing there for decades and looked to have had a tree fall on it at one time.

Wish I would have been there for that, but I can picture it pretty well. Certainly not a car you expect to find anywhere. Much less on a property way out in the sticks like that.

Id say that car has been there 30 years easy. The cars in that section seem to have been there the longest. I need to get back this spring. We went last summer and everything was so over grown many of the cars could barely be seen.

Odd that the cylinder head is gone, but the valve cover has been put back in place.

The owner of this property is a strange guy. He has hundreds of cars but they all sit outside. Most have been in the same spot for decades. Some like this were quite valuable when parked and he could have made a fortune in parts over the years. But he refused to sell until quite recently, due to mounting medical bills.

Many of the cars here are beyond saving and have few useful parts anymore. He told my friend who first found this place that at one time many of the more valuable cars were stored in large barn until a ex wife burned it down. He lost the building and a good number of cars. He never put another building up. His two prized Model A's are in old storage containers and that's it.

I'll get around to making a full post from this place at some point.

There was a guy like that around here, he had close to 300 cars from the 30's to the early 70's, and would not sell ANYTHING, he was gonna fix them all.

The last time I spoke to him he was 95 and still had plans to restore everything- he died and everything was crushed on site last summer.

I think that's a flathead engine Bandi. Valves in block. Could be wrong though.

That's really sad actually. If only the guy would have had some foresight perhaps some of the cars could have been saved. Or provided parts for people if nothing else. Sounds like his family wanted nothing to do with them and it was quickest and easiest to just crush everything. Very sad though.

This guy is around the same age. Seems like most of the old car hoarder guys are really getting up there in age.

Quite a few of the cars have already been hauled off the property, scrapped most likely. He told us if we saw anything we were interested in to let him know. He was telling us about all his recent health problems, sounds like he really needs the money now.

There is middle aged guy living on the property in a ramshackle trailer. We assume he is a grandson or something. He has Alabama plates on his truck so we just refer to him as "Alabama Man". We think he is the one hauling the cars off and scrapping them. It's a bit of a weird situation, as these kind of properties generally are.

That "valve cover" is the cylinder head. It is a flat head. Also known as a pan head. The valves are in the block. The head is just that hunk of iron, to cap off the cylinders, for the top of the combustion chamber, and keep the compression in. If you've ever head the head off a small engine, it's the same thing (mostly - there are some OHV small engines) - the entire valve train is in the block. Most Harley's too, for that matter...

Aerosmith's original tour van was found by the American Picker guys on the History channel. 1964 International Harvester Metro. It was found in a small rural town in Massachusetts.

Obviously not my pic. Pic credit Tampabay.com. All the news articles I found had video. Tampabay.com had a still image of it.

Never cared for this show. I can't believe any "reality" shows - they all look scripted, and the "reality" is just horrible acting. Also have to wonder how many of the things these goons find is staged. I am no less skeptical of this. However, it is definitely cool to see! I hope someone restores it. I would like to think one of the band members would want it back. Hell - I never became famous, but I would still LOVE to have my old tour van back - a 1964 Dodge A100....

Going by the video, if that mural on the side has been sitting out under the weather as long as that van has, I'll eat my camera.
