Seeking An Explorers Help

Hello Four Corners forum people

I have a request from someone who follows me, for a person in Utah...more specifically Salt Lake City. I will paste the message I got below...

Do you know how I could get in touch with someone who might be interested in exploring an old abandoned mortuary in Utah? I have a long and unusual story accompanying it.

Okay, I'm extra emotional tonight and I'm afraid I can't help myself from sharing it with you. I just looked through your pictures of other abandoned mortuaries and the shots just stirred something in me.

The mortuary I am referencing is called REMOVED Mortuary, or more recently, REMOVED Mortuary. The facilities were originally a mansion that was built by one of the original 1947 pioneers. I'm not sure when it became a mortuary, but I do know it was just added to and added to and added to, in a bizarre and totally haphazard way. When my parents were going through college in the area (back around '80-'84 or so) they lived in one of the five apartments also contained in the mortuary. My dad would collect bodies when it was his shift, and for that, my parents got free rent. (They have tons of interesting stories. Kinda wild, kinda surreal.)

During this time, I was born. So my very first home was... a mortuary. The irony of a spirit, fresh from heaven, surrounded by so much death, has always intrigued me. We lived there until I was about two.

Anyway, my younger sister has some profound mental instability issues. Several years ago she destroyed all my baby pictures in a bout of rage. The only thing I really had to hang on to was knowing that building was still around. However, it's slated to be torn down almost any day now. It's locked, and I can't really get in to it, but I'm dying for someone with the right equipment (and attitude, temperament, and sheer guts) to get inside and take pictures -- for the fun of it, but also, perhaps, for me. (There are some windows that are open, but you've got to have that dang equipment! Plus I'm a scardy cat old mom.)

I know that's a lot to ask of a stranger. But if you know anyone I could reach out to, I would so appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Does anyone know the building I am talking about?
Does anyone have pics you can send me to share with this kind woman
Lastly, does anyone have any interest in connecting with her to take her there??

Thanks,

Dave/Freaktography

Yeh, I'd say it sounds a little fishy.

As Walter White would say, "Tread Lightly"

Ive looked everywhere and can't find any place called REMOVED mortuary. I guess it's a better name than REMOVED graveyard.

I'm living in SLC now. Only been here a few years and I don't know what building she's referring to, but I'd be willing to help find an easy way in for her in exchange for a chance to see the place myself...

I'm inclined to think "REMOVED" is actually text telling the reader the real name of the place has been removed to protect the identity of the building. I don't really think the name of the mortuary is "REMOVED."

Maybe Freak can reach out to this follower for more info?

In my honest opinion, you could always just meet them and do some safer shooting to see who they are. I'm new to uer and don't have anyone to show me the ropes. Don't have many friends in Denver with the cajones to join me. I'm a shut in so its quite difficult for me to go anywhere. Yes its sad and most people are too freaked out nowadays by others to even say hi and not make it awkward. If anyone would help me, thatd be awesome. Even if it's just a meet up for shooting photos, that would be awesome too. I myself have a Canon EOS Rebel T6 with 2 lenses for it. I'll even post my fb for some background.
I'm located in Denver, Colorado

You don't know what I do for a living!

But to get more on topic, I think she means climbing. Sounds like it may make her a little nervous.

I am in that area, and am completely unaware of any mortuary like that. There was a crematorium several years ago, but it's long demo'd.
