Posted by faux-tographer Hey this is pretty darn cool! I'd love to go and try these myself sometime, any tips?

Thanks man, it's actually very easy
Getting the Shot 1 - Find your scene
2 - Compose your shot (obviously you need a tripod)
3 - Take a photo of the room or area with no model or supporting device
4 - Do not touch/move your camera
5 - Use a ladder, stool, chair anything that will support the model
6 - Set your model in the poses you want to best give the effect you want
7 - Take pictures of model in floating/levitating type poses
Rinse and repeat for any other areas you want to try this
Post Processing 1 - I used lightroom to apply the exact same edits to both shots (shot 1 with no model and shot 2 with model)
2 - Then I opened both shots in photoshop and layered them in the same file
3 - I ensured that the photo with the model is the front layer
4 - Zoom in close and with a nice tight/small eraser I removed the edges of the stool that were touching the model
5 - zoom out and erase the rest of the stool/ladder/chair
Advice/learnings 1 - I added some shadow in 2 of the shots but could have done a better job, adding shadows improves the effect.
2 - If your model is wearing a dress, make sure you try and fluff the dress up before the shot and make it hang/flow - I had to use photoshop and clone the dress in one shot and it was a bit of a pain
Hope this helps,
