I'm looking to adventure with in the North East Texas area, around Texarkana? (Yes I made a previous post but I felt I was lack luster in information after the 24hr waiting period.)I'm also trying to push to become a full member, I plan on taking photo's this weekend in Texarkana. Any recommendations for Texarkana? I heard there was a chop shop somewhere and I'd hate to walk into there. I've already visited Hotel Grimm but I've been considering taking another trip, hopefully during the daytime so I can get better pictures, don't like how easily you can be seen entering. (New to posting pictures here, so sorry for quality issues.)

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

I've been meaning to get back into urbex, and I'd like to do it in a city I'm not used to for once. I know a couple others who might want to go for it as well.

Ah, gotcha. I'm hitting a few buildings tomorrow night, and to be honest, a little nervous, but yeah.

It looks like I should’ve checked out all the new posts prior to replying. I added a reply to your first thread, since no one else had, lol.
I loved hotel Grim and got lucky enough to simply walk in (as opposed to the way that involves lots of feral cats). I just wish I had been more thorough.
I recommend walking around downtown too. I’ve found quite a few good locations just by parking my car, getting out, and walking around a few blocks. Pay extra attention to the blocks near the jail and law enforcement agencies and you’re bound to find something of interest.

Yeah, I actually did check a few of them out, and they're on my list. I'm just paranoid about those guard towers.

I peeked out of the back of the Armor building that is adjacent to the prison and decided to use my telephoto lens to see if anyone was in the guard tower. As soon as it was in focus I saw a guard staring straight at me. I don't know if he saw me or not, but it definitely rattled me! If he did see me, he didn't do anything that I know of about it.

The prisons will nail you for shooting them.
I was warned off in Chester PA about 13 years ago.
They take security rather seriously
I was on public property but decided not to push my luck.
Be very careful next to active prisons; don't be seen!!!

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Yeah, I toured the 'Shawshank' prison last year; and while you're free to roam through most of the place, they have the active reformatory behind it, and they are ADAMANT about making sure nobody takes pics of it.
I didn't press my luck, but many windows behind the prison have signs saying 'no photography', and it looked like there were CCTV's in those rooms, in case someone decided to ignore the signs. Unfortunately the yard is back there, so they don't let people roam around in that area.
