Old Mill, SC- my first urbex

Here are a few photos I took while on my first urbex to an old mill.

story time!

So I am a filmaker in South Carolina and sometimes I find myself going out searching for locations I can use for my projects. So I looked around a bit and came across this old mill on some forgotten thread. So decided to scout it out for a poe. It turned out it was extremely easy to get access to the site and I just wandered around for a bit with my friend. From what I read the mill was in operation for about 80 years before closing in 2005. Part of the had been demolished in 2012 and there were only two buildings remaining of the original plant. First we went into the main manufacturing building filled with old machinery and dust. Surprisingly it has not been scrapped for metals so most of the tools/machines were still there. sadly however half the building appears to have been burned by arson. eventually we made our way over to the office building(half demolished) once again poe was easy as cake. no fences, motion detectors or locks. there was however an active warehouse about 800ft away from the site. so we went in and took a few more photos and started going to the upper floors. it was at that moment that I heard several people talking. Which made me freak out a bit since there was only one way in and out. so we go into the darkest room there is and wait...and wait... eventually I take my phone and use it to peer over the edge to see three white town trucks outside the building. crap. Thankfully the way out was on the opposite side of the building so we couldn't be seen exiting. and when we got to the street we just awkwardly walked to our cars. but wait... theres more... I got into my car real quick and start going down the road when...you guessed it. the same white pick up truck is following us. so I drove into a densely urban area to lose him and it worked surprisingly well. so thats my first urbex experience, chaotic fun!

(sorry if the pictures look pixelated, I had to downscale like crazy to get them to upload.) :/

Thanks! There are a lot of abandoned mills in the upstate I'd visit them before they get completely demolished or renovated if you want to check the places out.

Yep - some of my first explorations were in York County, SC, several of those mills are gone or significantly modified now.

SC had some great options; the boom lately is causing a lot of renovations and demolition though.

Hi I am Rebecca's Coddiwomple Adventures. There are many interesting places to explore in South Carolina. I do not know how to post videos here anymore.
