Cool Hall: Lost Grandeur

I visited this lost hall on a very windy day. The gates were twisted and rusted, falling off their hinges and giving entrance to a curving muddy track that led to this sprawling house. Everywhere, floors and roofs were collapsing, slates falling down from above. I learned after my return that the entire back area which was a library had fallen in on itself not long before these shots. I did make it inside and below are some of the interiors and the scope of the outside areas.

Hope you enjoyed.

Wow!! Its so surreal and beautiful. The scarlet room photo is my favorite, it's like something out of a fantasy dream.

Another vote for the scarlet room. Those folding doors are awesome! All these shots have that WOW factor. Such decaying beauty. Loved these!

Thanks, man. That was a shot where it really popped at me after the fact. I'd been aiming at the shutters which stood in such surprisingly good repair as the main subject. As you can see from the jumble inside it was sadly too messy to step into that room in the end.

I am very glad the shutters caught me, and I very much want to make a return here. It's in an "derelict and almost ruined", in between state where there's so much falling down from above and so much tangled below that going far inside is a big gamble. I normally rush in to these kinds of collapsing beats, but had to hold back a lot here.

Your recent posts have all be fantastic, but this place really takes the cake so far. All of the minute details are so great, and the panoramas do a fine job of showing how vast the building is, and how far it's gone back to nature.

Absolutely. I think in a while I should have at least 2 more sets expanding off single shots that were in the "Mansions of Ireland" post. Thank you!

This was on my top 3 list when I first planned the trip and staked out 30 locations. Knowing I'd fail at least half, I was really excited to see this one. It did not disappoint and I'm a little sad I didn't barrel in further, but the wind and sharp falling slates really had me leery of being too carefree. Thank you so much, and I hope to share more soon as I keep editing!
