The curse of this place!!

So I haven't posted for a while. Life sometimes gets away from me! Today I decided to take a trip to this old feeble minded women's asylum. Place has always fascinated me and I pass it all the time! The images I know are not edited and are not the best but I wanted to tell a bit about this place and how it affects me. Do you guys get one place that has so much negativity and so much pain in its history but you feel addicted to it? This is that place for me. I have researched so much on this place that it just hits me in the feels when I drive past it but I am addicted! This place just has some hold on me. I figured today before a grocery store trip I would quickly go out and snap a few shots as haven't done so for a year or so. The architecture to me is so beautiful but the place just gives me bad vibes. So today while doing a quick walk around. I here a duck quaking away. Then I hear its ducklings loud and clear. I turn the corner expecting to see the cute image of ducklings following its mother. Well what I was greeted with was a duck in panic and it soon became obvious that the ducklings where stuck in the building. Not sure of how or when all this happened. I walked up to see if there was anything I could do to help the duck get her little ducklings back. I could not find a way in and I could not see any way out for the ducklings except this tiny little whole in a window. I tried to pick the duck up to put near the whole to see if she could get the ducklings to come to her but she wouldn't let me which is not surprising. Anyway I called the local animal rescue group and they said they would get there after there current job. As I put the phone down the duck flew away. I was totally bummed out. This place has this crazy curse on me! I tried for so long to help. Anyway cut forward a few hours. My phone rings and its the animal rescue lady. She said when she arrived the duck was there outside just starting to walk away with what I hope is all her ducklings! I can't believe it! I know this is a weird post! I just wanted to share

This place looks amazing, and good job helping the ducks! Breaking windows is frowned upon but if you had to break a window to rescue some ducklings, who's to say you couldn't use it as an entry point?

I know exactly the hold an old hospital can have on a person. There was one i visited for years with bad history. I must of went inside of it 50 times. I would always see something strange. Not ghostly. Things that they must of done to the patients but tried to keep secret. One was tubs confined in small closets with a lock on the door. Guess if they was tired of dealing with you they would drug you, put you in a tub and lock you in the closet. This was in the years before DSLR became popular and people started really documenting. I think back on what all i saw and wish i had photos It was bulldozed many years ago.

Anyways, Love this old hospital and i can see why you find it mesmerizing. The cupola on the top with the ornate gating around it must of been really nice at one point in time, along with the covered walkway. Enjoyed your story and pics!

I hate the broken windows, and pointless spray paint that has zero aesthetic value. I hate the vandals, the scrappers, and thieves. I hate the arsonists, the guy that carves his initials, and the kid with the sharpie that has to draw a penis on everything. I hate anyone who feels the need to make their mark in someway in someplace other than their footprints. But ducks. Damn the ducks. I would be forced to be the guy I hate to save the ducks, and hope the other TRUE explorers would forgive me. That seriously sounds just heart breaking!!

And Big Poppa - if I had to save the duckies by breaking that window, I don't think I could leave that fresh opening without first using it. Albeit with some guilt.....

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

I mean, you'd probably have to go inside for a good look around to make sure all the ducks were accounted for.

I feel this post hard. When I find a location that really captures my attention I become literally obsessed. I have an entire binder I've created of all of the locations that I feel particularly close to with history, records, old photos, maps, literally anything and everything I can find on a location. Even after I've explored it, it always has a place in the back of my mind.
I can totally see why a location with this history and mass would have someone addicted!

Yeah this place just has a hold on me! Always has. More than any other place I have been too. I think maybe with it being just around the corner from where I live and all the research I have done on it adds to the pull. It just grabs me!
