This is a really cool giant Buddhist statue on the beautiful Awaji island in Japan. Apparently it was built by a very rich man to try to bring some sort of capitalistic religious salvation to tourists, or something along those lines. I heard that it is the 10th tallest statue in the world, and its completely abandoned.

There's a giant steam locomotive in the backyard for some reason.

6.
Nothing like some hot wax S&M tapes inside of a Buddhist temple

7.
And some melted wax nearby to go along with it

8.
What was that guy eating!?

9.
Oh its just the statue of liberty outside the window

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Gotta love Japanese abandonments, always pristine. #16 is a pretty cool shot!

Members here have been posting some really unique and unusual locations lately, but I think this has to take the cake. Was this place as lightly secured as it seems?

Thanks for posting these, I've really been enjoying seeing these lesser-known Japanese spots from you.

Hey I'm glad you like seeing my pictures.

This place is ridiculously easy to get in. Basically can just waltz right in. I actually hitchhiked there with a Japanese family and the dad just dropped me off right in front and said "Are you going to go in? That's cool!"

That's amazing, I think Japan might need a visit in my life.
