Thought I would just share some pictures I took of abandoned theme parks around Japan. Sorry I'm kind of a bad photographer.

Start with Nara Dreamland

Canadian World

(This one is only semi-abandoned, there is still a lone caretaker guy taking care of the gardens, feels very abandoned but apparently on weekends some of the buildings open up)

No worries, though you might want to pace yourself a little, or arrange posts around locations.

Are all these sites still standing? I've never heard of a number of them before.

These pictures were all taken around 2 years ago. Apparently Dreamland and the Chinese gardens have since been demolished.

Really sad since Nara Dreamland was the most amazing abandoned place I have ever been to. Just thinking I'll never see it again almost makes me tear up.

WOW, awesome set of pictures! What incredible places, and great job with the photos and capturing the atmosphere of the parks. I especially like pic 9 in Nara Dreamland and pic 8 in the Heavenly Chinese Gardens. You should definitely post more of your pictures from urbex in Japan!

Does anyone know the story behind these parks?

Many of the Korean amusement parks featured were built to bring in tourists into areas without many visitors, but didn't succeed, was that the case in Japan?

A lot of these places are just a little bit outside of some major tourist spots in Japan.
Nara Dreamland was right in Nara which is probably one of the biggest tourist spots in Asia.

I'm guessing that when Disneyland and Universal Studios came to Japan they kind of stole away the business for all these weird old amusement parks around Japan. That and the real estate bubble in Japan collapsed which probably caused all these old parks to fall into abandonment.

OK thanks for filling me in, I've heard of Nara & it's shrines & deer.
