I figured as much.

I think the peeps in YEG have an eye on the camsell - dunno. Germ? Techno?

It’s kind of hard for me to keep an ear on those ones, just like if I asked Lola about the Heritage YMCA or MagCan.

ok since next week is spring break and I was thinking of going in there after I'm done my chemo treatment for the week

It sounds classier if you pronounce it "tray-passing"

I haven't looked in some time, but last I heard ol' Charlie was getting repurposed for something. As far as urbex goes, she's been gutted for some time now. It was considered no longer worth it by the time I got into the hobby. Nothin' but bare concrete, deadly holes & pigeon shit. Oh, and vigilant security.

Not unless you plan on scavenging up some pigeon shit or trespassing issues with the law.

Edit: asking for locations is considered poor form comrade.

Trespassing is illegal, but we do it anyway.

Trespassing at night is a summary conviction offence with a maximum penalty of $5000/6mo in jail. We do that too.

Anywhere more private, you say? Uhh.. no.

Not unless you work for a city or demo company or something/somewhere where you have access to privileged information that the public cannot access.

The rest of us rely on Google Maps, driving / biking / walking around, news articles, reddit, Flickr, etc.

Woah, you don’t cross Steed. Steed will end you.

My remark about the paranormal website was a joke. I don't respect ghost hunters but I can tolerate superstition and it wouldn't hurt you for getting full membership or anything.

The scavenging remark is a different matter, if you were being serious.

Taking, damaging, or otherwise modifying/destroying locations or the things inside them is heavily frowned upon. When you're leaving a site, it shouldn't be any different than it was on your arrival, besides some footprints. It's called site preservation, and it's pretty fundamental to the ethics of urbex.

ah ok thanks for letting me know
I will refrain from scavenging other than at the dump
don't get me wrong I don't purposely want to damage the site I just never thought of it that way
I just want to thank you guys for helping me learn the ropes of urbex and proper conduct

We were all new at this once, and sometimes it's hard to remember that. If you had been caught by the "vigilant security" taking wires from that abandoned hospital, they would have charged you with more than just trespassing. There are a lot of bad things that can happen to urban explorers, which is why there's so much caution and so many tutorials.

By the way, I bet you could find lots of cool stuff around dumpsters, especially around secondhand stores like Value Village.

There used to be stories about the Bio Sci building at the U of A, all about its weird and kind of chaotic design. It was said one professor once opened a closet door and found a hidden unused classroom back there. If anyone watches Bob's Burgers, the last episode gave me flashbacks to exactly that.

Gotta get those full completion achievements dude.

Seriously though, finding a hidden room/bunker/anything really is kind of an urbex dream of mine. I remember how excited I was for a moment coming across this hidden behind some bushes at an old farmhouse...

Until it turned out to be this.

Hm.. kind of anticlimactic!

I dunno though, it's bigger than the bunker in my backyard..

I remember accessing a spooky tunnel hatch only to find out its an abandoned sprinkler control valve. A fine addition to the uer database.
