As you can see, I am not from this region. But as ya'll can guess I am going to be vacationing in the area. I will be around Buffalo, New York near the end of June and was hoping to not leave without going on an explore or two.

Now I know I can do my research and find places for myself but I hate exploring new regions by myself without prior knowledge of the area. I know that the North East is riddled with gems so I was hoping I could find some people who would be down to show me around some sites.

I know its a long ways off but I am a planner so I like to get ideas of what might happen well before.

Looks like you should be sort of close, you should check out the Rochester Subway System. Not much left, but there is still a tunnel about a mile long and a bridge filled with graffiti. The tunnel ends under the historic library. If you want to see the bridge, take a walk along the historic Gensee River Trail... and you might want to pack a flashlight, if you intend on going IN the tunnels. >1000 lumens. And a tripod, if you don't want your pictures to be blurry.

Cheers!

you'd be 100% correct... if you have a good tripod and are fairly decent at editing RAW image data, this place is a dream come true. here's the photo my friend took in the photo i posted above.(pic posted with her permission)

The Richardson Olmstead complex just released tickets for the first batch of tours this summer, including photography tours. It would be worth going on one of those. Feel free to ignore their draconian unenforcable so-called photo license too, of course.

Also, the Buffalo Central Terminal does monthly tours, and is worth exploring as well.

You might also research the Church of the Transfiguration.
