Abandoned buildings feature in my dreams a lot.

In my dream I'll turn a corner in a familiar part of town and there will be a huge section of abandoned buildings that aren't there in real life. Or I'll be in a familiar location but now it's decaying and decrepit.

I also dream about tunnels and ghost towns a lot too.

Bit weird tbh.

I often dream of revisiting locations that I've been to already, usually the night of, or ones that I've managed to conjure up in my sleeping mind. However, most of the time, my dreams are about getting caught by property owners or the police.

Some of my best explores have been in my dreams, but they are usually just weird.

From an old IL Draino.

DRAIN DREAMS
Last night I dreamt that I went to the Chamber in Anzac with a bunch of you pricks and the whole place was modern... no graf and really clean... almost shiny. There was a stairway going up the wall to a door (like the one in the asbestos section of MPS) and someone opened the door and it set off an alarm.
I sat up in bed and said something to which Widdle Sarah said "What?" and I said "Don't worry about it" and lay back down. I do not recall this at all.
Doug

I had a strange one last night, a female friend and I were having runs through a slip 'n' slide drain by running and diving belly-first into a gutterbox, and sliding all the way through an RCP-style drain 1/4 filled with running water, with splits, curves and all sorts. This was repeated a few times, until the final time when we came out covered in mud and dirt and were both naked (!?) Then the drain exit from where we had just came disappeared and we had to walk home via the streets starkers and dirty (which looked like a beach side suburb like Sorrento) to funny looks from people on the roads. - Strange indeed.
Stinger

I had a dream... the first one I've remembered in ages!!!
Well, there was Cherry, Quantum, Cro and myself walking down a street kind of like Chapel Street, when we came upon this dude doing some roadwork on the side of the road. He had a section barriered off around a small hole. We walked by and noticed there was something rather interesting in the hole, so we went back and asked the dude if we could have a peek inside the hole. So we all had a good look and saw deep below the street an old dusty shopping centre that looked like it was from the 1950's. It was slightly lit by dirty shop windows and a big glass front door and we could see all the old shops etc. We figured we could probably get into the shopping centre via the big glass doors if we could find them, so we went looking in their general direction.
To get there we tried to climb this big mountain of boulders, until we found a tunnel going through the hill and all other weird and impossible thing that happen only in dreams. Then we got to the other side and found the old dirty shop windows and finally the big glass doors.
We slid the doors open and stepped in to find an old lady selling candy behind a stall and two kids pushing trolleys around. It turned out, that these people had been stuck in the old shopping centre since the late 1950's, selling candy and pushing trolleys around... and that's when I woke up!

That is awesome! Love hearing the dreams! If this wasn't a UE site, I'd be pretty weirded out. But sometimes the unconscious mind is more interesting than real life. Off to see what my mind can come up with. Thanks Doug for the stories!

I've surprisingly never had any dreams about abandoned places yet, I'm sure I will eventually. Gotten quite a few rooftopping dreams though, only got caught once.

No worries.
I have more. I just need to find them (I used to have a column called Drain Dreams in a zine I make).
I've had some crazy ones myself, but I tend to forget most of them.

Cheers

Before I started exploring, my favorite dreams took place in big many-roomed houses or semi-derelict mansions. They were in fact exploring dreams.

Since I started exploring, I more often have infiltration dreams. Most commonly I am snooping around big hotels or construction sites or climbing office towers, avoiding running into people and trying doors to see if they are locked. Sometimes they are not!

I don't have recurring dreams, but I do, weirdly, have recurring dream-locations -- I could almost draw maps of some of them. In particular, there is a tower that I occasionally revisit, so high that it sways noticeably; another is a construction site that has, unearthed in its basement, some kind of portal to another world that I desperately want to get to.

Not quite urbex, but I often dream of illogical architecture and secret rooms in familiar places. I usually wake up disappointed that my house isn't actually as cool as it is in my dreams.

Funny... last night I had a dream that a few buddies and I were exploring a huge drain near my parent's house that isn't there in real life. We got probably half way in until we looked down a sidepipe and saw some snakes in there, to which we responded by getting out of that place as fast as we could.

P.S. This is my first post on this amazing forum, so if I'm doing something wrong, please let me know

I recently had what we could call a series of premonitory dreams that kind of freaked me out a bit. Here's how it went:

A few days after coming back from a trip to Australia, I caught the flu and got sick and feverish for a week. Every night I would go to bed with a fever and have surrealistic dreams about exploring. From one night to the other, the dreams would always be the sequel to the precedent one, picking up where the last one ended.

First night: As we were scouting a potential new location, we ended up finding an extensive tunnel network under our city. We were very excited to explore it, so we got back out to grab our camera gear in the trunk of the car but got caught by police and then I woke up.

Second night: We were back to our location, ready to explore it with our camera gear (I don't recall what happened with the police from my previous dream). We went down the hole, and explored the whole thing, finding junctions, rooms that could be used as chil spots and whatnot. We were so pleased to have such a network of tunnels, that we dubbed it "The Montreal Catacombs". I woke up soon after that.

Third night: We were still exploring the place when we suddenly stumbled upon three guys (we were disappointed to see we were not the only ones having found an access to this sweet spot). Turns out these guys were also very surprised (and very angry) to see us, so they started chasing us and were yelling at us in spanish (dunno why, but they were spaniards...). They were truly trying to kill us and I lost my backpack with my camera gear at some point during my escape. Back to safety, I told my friend that we had to retrieve my backpack, but then realized that it was a small price to pay to stay alive.

This is the end of my series of dreams. Now to the real part:

Recently we were trying to crack a very sensitive, semi-active location, and were elaborating plans to do so. We found that it might be accessible through some tunnels nearby so we decided to give it a try. Ever since I've had these dreams, I got a bad feeling about this one but kept shrugging it off as sheer paranoia.

So two nights ago we went to scout the place and have a look at those tunnel hatches. 4 of them looked like a potential way in. After we succeeded in opening the most promising one, we found out that the tunnels didn't lead to our goal, but were in fact more extensive that we thought they'd be. Disappointed that it didn't lead where we wanted to, we started exploring the tunnels and we were very pleased when the abandoned part led us to an active portion of the tunnel system. We explored for two hours, until the stooping became unbearable. Then we made our way out and back to the car.

Our big mistake was to stick there for 30mins, smoking cigarettes and discussing what happened and what would be the next step in our plan. But suddenly a cop car came out of nowhere, and since we were in a private parking lot at 1:30am, they obviously stopped to question us.

Now, we were all very dirty from our tunnel trip, and we didn't make up a cover story prior, so we were kinda fucked a little. We managed to bullshit our way out of this sticky situation after 45mins of interrogations, ID checks, background checks, etc... I think that the police knew we were bullshitting them, but they let us go anyway. Needless to say that, with this sensitive location right next to our car, the reasons we gave them for our presence (nighttime architectural photography), it was easy for them to compute it all. They took our names, addresses and phone numbers before letting us go.

Upon returning home, I purged my phone from any incriminating pictures from that trip (after doing a backup on some dark corner of the net, of course).

I've had several over the years that were easy to distinguish as being dreams because they were just so out there, but there was one, in particular, that gave me nightmares for a few months.

Back in 2014, friends and I explored a large mall (which is now demolished) and we had a close run-in with security during one of the visits. The encounter wasn't scary at all — it was weirdly enticing — but since that was the closest I had come at the time of getting caught, it put me on edge. So, for the next three months, I would have a recurring dream where we were inside the same mall in the same spot we spotted the security guard, except this time he popped out of nowhere and chased around the mall. I'd wake up at the same point each time too when we were running down a flight of stairs.

Eventually, the dreams stopped, but I found it kind of incredible that those few seconds were glued to my memory for so long. I miss that place.

I don't remember my first post, but a first post about a UE dream is a pretty strong note to come in on in my books.

I just had one pretty recently.. well actually the dream itself happed probably almost a year ago now. In the dream, I was looking at a map like google maps or something for places to explore. I remember the general area I was looking at too (e.g. surrounding towns and what not). I never actually got around to exploring the place in my dream but I remember being drawn to a particular location.

I keep a dream journal so upon waking in real life, I wrote down the dream and everything I could remember and stored it away. Now a few weeks ago (via online research) I found out about a rather unique location. I plugged the address into google maps hit search. Whenever you search something in maps the result always comes back super zoomed in. So as I zoomed out I began to notice and recognize the surrounding landmarks. It was sort of like deja vu and immediately the memory of this dream resurfaced.

I went back to my journal and re-read what I had written down and sure enough the place I had just found matched almost the exact area I was looking for in my dream.

I haven't been able to visit this location yet in real life, but it is definitely on my list and I am looking forward to it.

Since we resurrected a thread over a year old I will add my dream/nightmare to it.

In my dream, (sometimes a lucid dream) I see a cool old giant sized industrial building looks empty and I just have to go and check it out. When I get inside theres a bunch of people I know! Fellow employees from a past career. And they expect me to come in an participate in another damn meeting.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I hate going to meetings.
