This old house has always caught my attention from a distance.  I just had to get closer. When i did, i noticed forgotten toys on the front porch and and the place was obviously abandoned.~ It just looked sad~.  I finally got to talk to some people that lived in this very small town about the Strange, Lonely, Old House sitting off the road surrounded by weeds.  It evidently was some kind of small orphanage/or foster care for children who were awaiting full time adoption.  Ms. Olive did the best she could to keep the children safe and fed, but the state closed her down...Too many many things were wrong with the house, and it was under code. Always wondered what happened to the kids.!?!

Haven't posted a thread in a long while so, I hope someone enjoys this. Thanks For Looking!

PS. As you look out of the windows in some of the photos you will see what looks like a nice manicured yard. It definitely is!    The lot next door is kept up and someone lives in a house one lot over, but has nothing to say on this topic   Olives sits on the dead end.

Thank you for the share. I love the pictures. It is definitely nice that you have documented this house. Perhaps by posting these pictures you might allow someone to revisit a good memory. Well done!

I think the two B&W ones have to be my favorites. They just seem to fit in the overall story of this house.

Thanks for the share!

Thank you for the write-up and providing us some small context to this humble building. My favorite shot is definitely the warm red room. (Also that fruity chandelier is amazing) Glad you've posted a thread again. Please keep them up, they're never a disappointing read.

I have a feeling that that chandelier tells you a lot about the owner. It's something Grandma 4Valhal would of had in her kitchen lol.

Cool find!! I have become quite interested in abandoned houses and I have list of ones to go check out once the snow melts.

That child size four wheeler toy is awesome, wish I had something like that as a kid! Love all the toys scattered around, excellent take on the place!

THESE are definitely my favorite places. Such a soul to the entire environment in these. Great shots and, once again, I'm quite jealous. ;)

So weird that someone scavenged so much of the wiring in the house and yet left all the light fixtures and the kitchen sink/faucet. I guess that goes to show how much more alluring the price of copper is right now compared to other scrap metals.

Put me down for fav'ing both of the B&W photos the most too. And from a photography standpoint, have you noticed that those pics seem to have a clearer and less grainy look to them? Did you take them B&W in-camera, or adjust in post later? The reason I ask is because if I put my own camera in sepia mode and take a photo, and then take a regular color photo and reduce it to sepia with a photo editing program later, the in-camera sepia shot is far sharper and cleaner. I'm not sure what the camera physics is behind that.

Thank You For your feedback GS. I don't know why that happens either. Interesting isn't it. For me, the B&W or sepia comes from post editing. I think thats why i like B&W photography so much. It many times looks clearer, sharper than the pics in color.
