This was a cool shot from the bottom of the main factory. These arches ran the entire length of both sides of the building.

Decaying shelf from what I am assuming was an onsite living quarters or office.

This was located in one of the rooms. Not sure what this thing did but it looked cool just sitting on the floor.

Giant scrap yard here. Still has a lot of cogs and what not. I am assuming its way to heavy for people to steal and scrap. There was a lot of this stuff laying around rusting. Thought it was cool.

So above this room is about 2-3 stories of empty space to the very top floor. Lots of heavy machines in here.

This stair case went to the roof. We didnt venture up because at this point I had almost died and was venturing back out.

These last two were taken in a office building on site. That desk room had trees growing through the walls and into the windows. I didnt have a flash so when I tried to capture that it was blown out at the window or you couldnt see anything but the window.

I have more but they are all to big to post and I dont feel like editing them now.

Looks fun, and good images
Come on, tell the hellhole story... so others may learn.
Try substituting "inp" from "img" to get the full size image verses thumb nail; makes it easier to view.
We're sorta of lazy here...

Going to go back and edit. I was in a hurry when leaving. I dont have flash player on my computer. Would've made uploading way easier.

I will include the story under the image in the room it happened in.

This is the room of death. 3 floors up and we are walking around. The floor is fine on one side. Feeling confident I have my sony a7rii out and I am looking for compositions, lines etc. Even went over to a hole in the wall and hung my body over the edge (really dumb). As we made our way around the floor felt a little soft and creeked when I went to step my foot went through the floor to my hip and I almost fell 3 stories onto the heavy machinery. I threw my camera to the side, spread my arms behind/beside me and kicked my other leg out in front of me, creating a tripod of stability. It was enough to stop me from going through the floor. I got out and gingerly walked back the way I came.

Exploring can be dangerous as hell. Its why I never go by myself and always let my wife know where I am going lol.

Yeap, that's a hellhole...
Partners can't save a dead person but they can fall as well.
You need to take 100% accountability for your actions and never expect a rescue. Lose the "if".
When floors etc collapse they give little or no warning. You were fast, reacted correctly and lucky.
Next time you see the signs, don't push your luck.

Read this thread and add your story if you wish so others may learn:

Glad you're the one that got away...

I was waiting for you to post your words of wisdom, Blackhawk.

Before you wrote your story, I was wondering if the location almost killed you with its greatness, not its hazards. While your pictures are beautiful, they don't, at least to me, clearly display any hazards. Even your pictures of the sketchy floor doesn't look all that sketchy in comparison to other pics of sketchy floors I've seen on here. But I'm not an expert on sketchy floors, so don't listen to me.

Great pics, keep exploring, and stay safe!

One day I got a good camera.

If it's the place I think it is, where you nearly fell was actually about 6 floors, not 3. The stairs are misleading.

Also, shower and wash your gear good.

In other news, nice photos. Looks like you saw some of the buildings I didn't make it to.

But if you are going artsy, then you're going all the way. Someone's cutting off an ear!

Yeah I am aware of the dangers and people not being able to bring me back if I die. However if I fell and was only injured having someone with me would be a good thing.

I do take 100% accountability when I am out. Down side of this is there was no signs that the floor was bad. There was nothing until I heard the creak and as I stepped I went through. It was scary as hell. I will check out that threat today. Thanks for the input. As I was falling all I could think of was seeing people fall into ice and how a wider base can save you from going all the way in lol.

Yeah cleaning my camera was a bitch. We actually pulled over at a gas station on our drive home and used a hose to clean our skin off. I know what that place used to be in terms of a factory and having it all over me stressed me out.

I just saw your flickr. Its the same place.

1.
This was on the top floor of the building as well.

2.
This tractor was sitting outside of one of the offices. Looks like it was actually set on fire at one point. All the electronics in it were toasted.

3.
One of the outer buildings. This building had a lot of bricks in it. A box with a ton of old VHS tapes and the scrap yard.

4.
This was in the same building as the control room. Everything in here was made of metal. This place was neat.
