I found this place by accident whilst looking for another location that I thought was nearby - and as soon as I plonked the street view marker down next to it I recognised it as somewhere I had seen a couple of shots of floating around on Facebook not too long back. Talk about a happy coincidence eh?

This large house is located in the most expensive area of one of the most expensive towns in England, so quite why it hasn't been redeveloped yet I don't know. From what I discovered upstairs it used to belong to an owner of a Hungarian company which converted trucks into horseboxes and has been empty since around 2010. It looks as if some kind of renovation was due to start as all the slates have been removed from the roof and nearly the entire ground floor, and most of the upper floorboards have been removed. There was an attic space but the stairs up to it were blocked off by a large wardrobe that had 'fallen' down them at some point.

In the intervening years what is left of the house has been hit pretty hard by idiots with most windows broken and a few terrible tags here and there but overall it was a very photogenic place, with plenty of light streaming in.

Nice find
Used to be quit a place... that bath tub pool is incredible.
1st mistake; not fixing slate roof.
2nd mistake; removing slate roof and leaving it to rot

Gotta love accidental finds like this!

This also goes to show how quickly a building deteriorates when most of the roof is gone. This looks like 20+ years of abandonment, not 8

Shame about the vandalism, but still, what a cool site. I love British abandonments, they're like classic haunted houses. The missing floor makes for a pretty unique look, particularly in #3 and #7.

You said it, such a beautiful place, unfortunately, spit on with disgusting spray paint scribbles. Glad it was relatively minimal graffiti.

This one clearly was gorgeous once upon a time. I really cant tell if they had plans here to renovate or to take all the things out that were usable on another home....like hardwood floors and expensive moldings, tiles. At some point it even looks like there was a fire. Now, the way it is, maybe, more cost effective to demo it and start over. What a shame. Cool photos! Like the sunlit staircase.

^^^Agreed. The vandalism in most locations is quite frustrating. Friends have said "Hey, take me with you on one of your trips so I can paint!" The answer is always the same: Nope.
And #10 in this set is GORGEOUS! I love the feeling in that picture.
