Abandonments, Guns, and bad Photography

This is a rant about anyone who thinks it's super cool to bring a fucking gun to an abandoned building and proceed to take photos with it.

I'll start my argument against bringing guns with you on your explore with the fact that trespassing with a firearm is a fantastic way to earn yourself a felony, but worse for you - a good way to get killed by any number of lawful or otherwise unlawful carriers.

Unfortunately, I have run across several photos where "explorers" had a semi-automatic handgun, shotgun or rifle in their hands trying to look like a bad ass. The last, a man in dark clothes and a mask was leaning against a wall pointing what looked like a real glock 17 towards a hole in the side of the building.
I don't think I need to go on about how moronic that is or why.

Anyways, don't be a fucking idiot and go around playing with firearms (or any other weapons for that matter) in an abandoned place of any sort. You're not cool.

Without a solid knowledge of the latest tacticool gear and tactics that you learned from a prepper Youtube channel, how will you defend yourselves from the waves of crackheads that assault explorers upon entry to every building?

There was an infamous abandoned gun factory in the UK which was once filled to the brim with old rifles, stocks, barrels, and all manner of other stuff. Unsurprisingly it gained quite the reputation amongst the exploring community five or so years back and it wasn't long until the police took an interest in the place, raided it and cleared it out completely. Even though the rifles had been made safe, to the untrained eye it could have been a very disconcerting sight.

Guns are not necessary in abandonments full stop.

Chances are that somebody who is taking selfies with their guns probably won't have the proper training to effectively use said gun in self defense.

If the gun is fake, you may be asking for even more trouble.

I totally agree with you here, but for one exception: Skatchins. His Wasteland/Fallout/MadMax-style photo sets are so meticulously planned and executed with such care and creativity that he deserves to be classified in a league all his own. And I don't think those are even the types of photos or idiocy that you are talking about.

Based on what you're saying here, no because that actually sounds pretty cool and would most likely appear to be a photo shoot with people that don't have their head up their asses.

I'm talking about the typical instagram douchebags that follow the trends and don't have an ounce of common sense.

There is no reason anyone should need or have a gun with them while exploring. The "protection" argument doesn't stand because if you are going somewhere you feel is so dangerous that you need a gun you should probably just not be an idiot and not go. Hard, blunt truth.
