It's been awhile since I've posted but I have been out a fair bit scouting locations. It's been so freakin' cold though!! Uggghhh!

This one is WAY off the beaten path and was quite the ordeal to get in to. For anyone who is not from here, the back roads, in the winters, are all graded and the snow usually forms a high bank along the ditches. I needed to walk in about 750 m to this place but had to first tackle the large bank of snow. Usually they harden up and you can just walk on top of them but my first step in, I sunk to the top of my legs. I ended up doing a crawl, roll mash up to get across it but still had thigh high deep snow to walk through to get in. I should have brought my snow shoes!

The effort was worth it because I finally found a house with some colours in it. There wasn't much else but usually here it's all the glorious shade of dead wood. The hole in the floor had a small staircase down into a cellar, which I did not go down but thought of thegerm because that'd be the first place he'd go. I typically don't go upstairs either when I'm way out in the boonies and solo (safety reasons), so my pics are limited to the main level.

I followed an animal trail out...deer and coyote...way easier! Smart animals!

Thankfully not even a flake of that evil white stuff here

It sounds classier if you pronounce it "tray-passing"

Thanks! And I had my timmies so all was well! ;)

I do spend a fair bit of time outside in the winter, so was geared up but I realized the pics suffer because your hands freeze quicker. It was only -9 when I went to bed last night. Crazy weather!!

LOL it definitely adds a new safety element to an explore. Keeps ya moving too! I don't go too far from home when it's that cold and definitely not off the beaten path. The explore from this morning was about 10 mins from home.

I have a route mapped out for us if you guys ever wanna go rural. It might be better to wait until the snow is gone (unless you want the insane work out that waist high snow is) but the driving to location ratio will be high. I found two other places yesterday too that are not the typical wooden houses and within the area of where I was. Throw in the church and one other place and boom...theres 5-6 right there. Guaranteed good times! LOL

^^^^^LOL Also with you in mind....there weren't too many signs of said adversaries. Although, again, I stayed on the main floor. I guess you're just gonna have to come next time! ;)

Ok...one more set...I've been out in the wild a lot this winter. This isn't your typical urbax set but a really cool place I hiked into that is not very well travelled. I stopped at a "ghost town" too but it was too freakin' cold to do much so I didn't stay.

I see no problem with exploring in extreme cold as long as you're dressed for it. Keeps others off your back for sure.

Definitely makes the day time explores easier. The vortex this year was brutal but I had major cabin fever and good gear so anything around -20 was a go. That being said, by the end of Feb I was pretty much done with it.

Damn, you been busy! That rural set looks very familiar...don't suppose you saw a long barn made of rough stone and concrete as well?
