I recently spent four days exploring in Scotland, and this was one of the places I had wanted to see for years. It's kind of a total about-turn on my previous posts of beautiful chapels and rusty car graveyards, and was definitely the 'ugliest' location I shot on the trip but it's somewhere I had been wanting to see for years.

This former slaughterhouse was owned by one of the largest food processing companies in Europe, and closed in 2005 after it became financially non-viable. Since the closure it has sat derelict and deteriorating, there was a fire on the upper floor a few years back which caused a bit of damage but didn't touch the main body of the plant. I have to say I expected to get a bit weirded out by this place but on a lovely sunny weekday morning I was fine. It's been trashed and bashed but a lot of the old mechanics are still present inside, and it's certainly one of the more unique locations I have shot.

One thing's for sure, this is not a place to take your vegetarian friends!

Looks cool! Really makes you wonder what everything there looks like when it's in use, although I'm sure I wouldn't wanna see all of that lol

I'm surprised there are no bones. I suppose that is a testament to being somewhat well managed. I explored a small scale hunting related one last year and it was full of them. Those are some very menacing machines in there!

Man, this really got me thinking about how horrible it must be for the animals in there. Those machines look treacherous! The photos were taken really well by the way, nice work!
