A fellow explorer in my area wrecked his camera and has been using a cell phone for his photography. He's doing all right outdoor but obviously struggling in low light.

I figured with most new cell phone camera having decent manual setting, one should be able to use a tripod and some light painting skills.

The result.... While obviously not SLR quality. I am blown away. Much, much better then expected.

Most of these photos were taken in caves with pitch black conditions. All of them taken with my LG G6 phone.

In this area the side of the hill is like swiss cheese with many small caves.

Entrance to the first cave. I actually ended up taking multiple shots with different exposure times for this one.

largest chamber

Somehow this area looks bigger then it actually was.

Its a tight squeeze. With commitment, you can make it through. We made it.

Chilling like a villain at then end of this cave. No... not a selfie. He is a buddy of mine. I was working the camera and lighting for all these shots.

Very interesting results. This is something you need to show to people complaining that they can't take good photos because they don't have an expensive dslr.

Good, well composed shots.
#2 came out especially well; a stone cold keeper

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

You can have the best gear in the world... if you do not know how to use it. You will still have shitty photos.
Not to mention, carrying a cell phone and a flexible tripod is way easier then a full size SLR.

That said, I will return when time permit, and bring all my proper photography gear. It is going to be a major pain in the ass, and a two man job. But we will be heading there primarily for photography. As for this trip. It was just for a fun adventure and finding as many caves as we could.

I keep a phone holder from a selfie stick in my camera exactly for this purpose. It has a screw mount so I can put my phone on my tripod and take level panos and HDRs.

But i will go and say that iPhones have less sophisticated cameras than their LG or even Motorola counterparts.
