Cool Things Come in Threes...

As we all know I'm a bit of a fan of car graveyards. I was heading out on my first explore trip for over a month at the weekend and whilst we struck out at most of the new leads I had we did find success at three small car graveyards.

The first was a chance spot by my friend who saw someone had posted up a photo of it on a photography page, and he was then given some rough directions to where they were located. After a fifteen minute slog up a steep hill in the woods we eventually spotted the prize - a pair of very cool Jaguars with one being an original Series 1 XJ6.

There was also a little surprise there in the shape of what was left of an extremely rusty Alfa - these cars came out of the factory rusty so it's a wonder there is anything left of this example.

Moving on to the second location, this is a weird one. At one point in life it was a small house with a swimming pool and a lot of land. In later life it was used by NCP who are a company that runs public car parks all over the country as an admin office before being abandoned around 1993. There are millions of unused car park tickets everywhere in the house as well as old toll booths and other stuff scattered around the various sheds. However that wasn't what I was interested in, all I wanted was the one totally collapsed garage which contained a quartet of rare classic cars.

The cars are a very rare Austin Atlantic, a very rare Rover P6 V8, a very rare Sunbeam Rapier which had been converted into rally spec, and a very rare original Austin Metro.

And lastly was a little bonus. Pretty much next door to the last place was the remains of an old farm - the house was burned and almost completely collapsed but in the trees out back were some outbuildings, and around those buildings were two and a half vehicles...a rare Ford 100E, a rarer Ford Anglia, and an even rarer, and unusual, Mk.1 Ford Transit complete with 1960s 'cherrypicker' crane, which was probably the only thing stopping the van from collapsing...

Thanks for looking

It appears nature has slowly reclaimed these cars, over the course of decades. Good find

Nice find and really good report. Especially the Jags! No photos of the farmhouse?

Nothing worth shooting! It was so collapsed it was pretty much just a central wall with a chimney stack and a couple of outer walls with the remains of the floor attached.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

I've always enjoyed looking at photos of abandoned cars. These are a stellar example. These cars are gorgeous no matter what shape they are in, I'm glad you found this.

Long been a huge car graveyard fan, always tons of great textures and angles to be found. Loving those Jaguars in particular. Awesome work!

Man I love 1/2, 3 and 10. The vines completely covering the tires looks so good. Thanks for sharing!

I second Mahal's comment! That was my immediate thrill upon opening this thread. The first pic is really something else. That is one heck of a unique car graveyard shot.
