The article will be out in the Verona-Cedar Grove Times as well for anyone who is local to North Jersey. Every building there is cleaned out and ready for abatement and demolition. They are prepping every building first, then doing all the demo work at once.

For all these years, real explorers, like most of us here, wouldn't have dreamed of pilfering the artifacts from this place, and this guy, since he's a historian, whatever that means, has the right to use the woodwork in his house.... Whatever...at least the proceeds from the stuff he sells will go to the restoration of the other items, hopefully the restored items will end up in a museum like he claims...

He salvages stuff legitimately, and is a great guy. You shouldn't be speaking ill of someone when you have no idea who they are or why they did something.

Oh, and plenty of "real explorers", whatever that means, have stolen plenty from here over the years.

Just so you know, all items that have been restored have already been donated to the Cedar Grove Historical Society, Verona Historical Society, and New Jersey Historical Society. Would you rather them be thrown away? Because if he haven't gone through and removed historical items they'd now be in a dumpster. As mentioned, he has been salvaging items with permission for years that otherwise would have been trashed. Also incase you didn't know what a historian meant, I'll paste the dictionary definition for you below: (I'd rather be a historian than a "real explorer, whatever that means)

an expert in or student of history, especially that of a particular period, geographical region, or social phenomenon.

No way! Real explorers take only pictures and leave only footprints.

Not here to make any enemies, I shouldn't have posted anything at all, and yeah, for all I know he could be a great guy, I don't know him
The best outcome for a place like Overbrook would have been if the place gets saved and re-used. Obviously, thats not going to happen here. If portions of it get saved and put in a museum, then thats the best we could hope for, because over the years a lot of places went down where no one had the opportunity to save anything.

Yeah all real explorers take only the old vintage photos found in a location and leave only footprints all over the other stuff.

Same, I have a box of color slides from a Chemical Remediation plant and a post card from Riverside Psych. And a few other things I won't name from places that no longer exist around here.

It brings a tear to the eye to see Overbrook going away. So many memories. I'll admit I did pilfer a little bit from this site. The first time I went, I took a slide I found on the ground about electroshock and wound healing. The last time I went, I took a brick. I'm truly a master thief.
