Hi All...my first post in this section and my first real larger explore. Let me first say I am not a photographer and have much to learn. Pics are taken with my phone and a GoPro.
I was in Berlin for a couple of weeks and it was my goal to hit up at least one place. While I had connected with a few fellow explorers, we were unable to coordinate so I did this one solo. I took some safety measures but the solo part really added to the whole creep factor. Creepy AF!
Berlin has a lot of places and a lot of them are online with full write ups. I chose an old children's hospital complex and went through several of the buildings. It was built in 1909 and shut down in about 1997. It's had numerous fires in the main building over the years and I stayed off the upper levels in those buildings as I had read someone fell through the floor and was seriously injured.
When I got there, there was new boarding up around the outer fence so I had to take a lap and find a place to go over the fence. It's a big complex right in the middle of the city. Getting out was over the fence right into an apartment complex playground and I then casually just started walking out like I lived there.
This was an amazing first experience and although I scared myself numerous times, it was so worth it. It had just finished raining and there was broken glass everywhere so you can imagine all the different sounds. A few times I was sure I heard walking and twigs breaking. I anticipated finding other people there as that had been written to be common but found no one, which just added to the creepiness.
BEST.RUSH.EVER.
These are a few of the outer buildings.
